Summary

This low-mileage 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG 4MATIC+ is a standout opportunity, having covered significantly fewer kilometers than the 80,000–100,000 km typical for a 4-year-old vehicle in the GCC. Finished in high-resale Black, it combines the iconic roadster silhouette with the year-round stability of all-wheel drive, making it perfectly suited for the UAE's high-speed highways and coastal drives. As the R232 generation return to a soft-top layout, it offers improved cabin insulation and weight distribution over its predecessors. This specific unit represents a balanced choice for the regional buyer who demands V8 performance without the extreme initial depreciation of the SL63.

This Car vs Other 2022 SL55 AMGs

With just 9,659 km on the odometer, this example is effectively in its break-in period compared to the high-mileage units typically seen on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi commute. The Black exterior remains the most sought-after color in the GCC used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than more niche shades. Its GCC specification is a critical advantage, ensuring the cooling systems and electronics are fully optimized for the region's extreme 45°C+ summer peaks.

4MATIC+ vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the SL55 AMG over the entry-level SL43 replaces the four-cylinder engine with a handcrafted 4.0L twin-turbo V8, a configuration that holds significantly more prestige and value in the Middle East. This trim also standardizes the 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel-drive system and active rear-axle steering, providing superior high-speed stability on wind-swept desert roads. Additionally, the SL55 features enhanced interior materials and standard multi-contour seats that are often optional on lower models.

SL55 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The SL55 AMG leads rivals like the BMW 8 Series Convertible and Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet by offering a more refined balance of grand touring comfort and daily usability. Its 2+2 seating configuration and MBUX infotainment provide a level of digital sophistication that outpaces the current 911 cabin. For the GCC buyer, the SL's dedicated Airscarf and ventilated seat systems are more effective at managing the local climate than the cooling systems found in many European competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V8 averages around 12.9 L/100km, which is efficient for its class during long-distance highway cruising between emirates. Authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals of 15,000 km or 12 months. While luxury roadsters typically see 12-15% annual depreciation in the GCC, the extremely low mileage and popular color of this unit help it track toward the lower end of that range.

Performance & Capability

The SL55 AMG delivers 476 hp and 700 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 3.9 seconds, perfect for assertive highway overtaking. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system constantly redistributes torque, ensuring maximum grip on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces that can be treacherous for rear-wheel-drive rivals. Standard active rear-axle steering makes this convertible surprisingly agile in tight urban parking and stable during high-speed lane changes.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features the latest MBUX architecture with an 11.9-inch adjustable central touchscreen designed to reduce glare when the top is down. GCC-essential features include ventilated front seats and the Airscarf neck-level heating system for comfortable open-top driving during the cooler winter months. The 2+2 layout provides extra interior storage or space for children, while the 213-liter boot remains practical even with the roof stowed.

Safety

This SL55 AMG comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and Blind Spot Assist, which are invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic in the GCC. The standard 360° camera system and Pre-Safe impulse side protection provide additional peace of mind in congested urban environments. Its rigid aluminum spaceframe construction offers superior structural integrity and passenger protection in the event of an impact.

The bottom line

For a collector or daily driver, this SL55 AMG offers a rare combination of delivery-mileage condition and a desirable V8 soundtrack at a meaningful market adjustment. It is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants a showroom-fresh Mercedes roadster that is mechanically optimized for the unique demands of the GCC climate.
