Summary

This 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GLS Midline offers a refined balance of modern styling and Japanese reliability, making it a standout choice in the competitive compact SUV segment. With its turbocharged powertrain and capable four-wheel-drive system, it handles the daily commute and weekend road trips across the Emirates with ease. The silver exterior is one of the most practical and high-demand colors in the GCC, ensuring better heat reflection and stronger resale value. Compared to rivals, the Eclipse Cross provides a more unique, driver-focused cockpit and a comfortable ride quality suited for long highway stretches. For any buyer in the region, the combination of accessible parts and a robust service network makes this a low-stress ownership proposition.

This Car vs Other 2022 Eclipse Crosss

With 85,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits at a typical mileage for a three-year-old car in the GCC, where highway commuting often leads to higher annual usage than in other markets. The silver finish is a significant advantage for local buyers, as it is a top-tier resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets. This specific example has been kept in its original GCC specification, ensuring the cooling systems and filters are optimized for the regional climate.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The GLS Midline trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base GLX or entry-level GLS trims by adding essential convenience features. Buyers benefit from larger 18-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded infotainment system that integrates seamlessly with modern smartphones. These additions, along with improved interior materials, make the Midline the 'sweet spot' for value retention in the used market.

Eclipse Cross vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Qashqai or Kia Sportage, the Eclipse Cross stands out with its standard turbocharged torque, providing better low-end pull for merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. Its 63-litre fuel tank is generous for the segment, offering longer range between fill-ups on cross-border drives. Additionally, Mitsubishi's long-standing reputation for AC performance gives it a distinct edge during the peak GCC summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.5L turbo averages between 7.3 and 8.5 L/100km depending on the mix of city traffic and highway cruising. Mitsubishi enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, keeping maintenance straightforward and parts affordable. The Eclipse Cross typically experiences a stable depreciation curve of 10-12% annually, performing well against European competitors in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 152 horsepower, which feels responsive thanks to the well-tuned CVT that simulates traditional gear shifts. Equipped with four-wheel drive, this SUV provides added stability on rain-slicked roads or gravel tracks during weekend outings. While designed primarily for the road, its 183mm ground clearance allows for confident navigation over speed humps and minor off-road terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five passengers, featuring reclining rear seats that offer class-leading flexibility for passengers or cargo. The climate control system is engineered for the heat of the Gulf, ensuring the interior reaches a comfortable temperature quickly even after being parked in the sun. Practical touches like bottle holders in all doors and a quiet, well-insulated cabin make it an ideal environment for long family journeys between emirates.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the GLS Midline, featuring a suite of active systems including Active Stability Control and Traction Control to maintain grip on unpredictable surfaces. The vehicle is equipped with multiple airbags and reinforced impact zones, contributing to its strong global safety reputation. For highway driving, the inclusion of cruise control and responsive anti-lock brakes provides peace of mind during high-speed travel.

The bottom line

For the practical GCC buyer seeking a stylish yet reliable crossover, this Midline trim offers the perfect mix of turbocharged performance and high resale potential in a region-ready package.
