Summary

This 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GLS Midline represents a smart acquisition in the GCC market, offering the perfect balance of a modern turbocharged engine and Japanese reliability. With 76,000 km over 4 years, it has been driven approximately 19,000 km per year, which is below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. The Silver exterior is highly regarded for its heat-reflective properties and consistently strong resale value across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a GCC-spec model, it is specifically engineered to handle the region's intense summer heat with a robust air conditioning system. For buyers seeking a stylish crossover that transitions seamlessly from city commutes to weekend road trips between emirates, this GLS Midline is a top-tier choice.

This Car vs Other 2022 Eclipse Crosses

With a total mileage of 76,000 km, this vehicle has been maintained at a usage rate of 19,000 km per year, which is considered low-to-average for the GCC region where long highway commutes are standard. Most 4-year-old crossovers in this market often exceed 90,000 km, giving this specific unit a distinct mechanical advantage. The Silver finish is the ideal practical choice for the local climate, showing less dust than darker shades and maintaining a premium look even after years of desert sun exposure.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The GLS Midline trim is a significant step up from the base GLX, offering features that are essential for premium comfort in the GCC. It replaces the basic audio setup with an 8-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio system featuring full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Additionally, this trim adds 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels and automatic headlights, providing a sharper aesthetic and improved nighttime visibility on unlit desert highways.

Eclipse Cross vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Corolla Cross or Kia Sportage, the Eclipse Cross stands out with its 1.5L turbocharged engine, which provides a punchier torque delivery for highway overtaking. Its 63-litre fuel tank is one of the larger options in the compact crossover segment, offering a longer cruising range between petrol stations on cross-country drives. The Mitsubishi also benefits from one of the most extensive and affordable authorized service networks across all seven emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a strong suit, with a verified combined consumption of 7.3 L/100km, making it economical for both Dubai traffic and highway cruising. As a GCC-spec Mitsubishi, parts are widely available and affordable, significantly lowering long-term maintenance costs compared to European rivals. The Eclipse Cross enjoys a stable depreciation curve in the UAE, typically retaining a higher percentage of its value at the 5-year mark than many of its Chinese or American competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine delivers a smooth 150 hp, paired with a CVT that is tuned for efficiency and refined power delivery. While it is a road-biased Front Wheel Drive crossover, its 180 mm ground clearance allows it to handle gravel tracks and minor terrain during weekend outdoor excursions. The turbocharger ensures that the car feels responsive even when fully loaded with passengers and luggage for a family trip.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is designed with the GCC user in mind, featuring high-quality cloth upholstery that stays cooler than leather in the summer heat. The rear seats offer a 9-step reclining function, a rare feature in this segment that significantly enhances passenger comfort on long drives to Salalah or Ras Al Khaimah. The powerful Mitsubishi air conditioning system is supplemented by rear heater ducts to ensure rapid cabin cooling during peak summer months.

Safety

This GLS Midline comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including seven airbags and Mitsubishi's Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction. Standard features such as Active Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, and a high-definition rearview camera provide confidence in both tight urban parking and fast-moving highway traffic. The inclusion of Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) ensures stable stopping power even on sandy or wet surfaces.

The bottom line

For the practical GCC buyer who values a low-mileage Japanese crossover with modern tech and high resale potential, this 2022 GLS Midline is the optimal choice.
