Summary

This 2022 Nissan Sunny SV is an ideal choice for GCC commuters seeking a balance of modern tech and class-leading efficiency. With mileage just under the 100,000 km mark, it has been driven at a typical regional average for its age, predominantly on the highways where this sedan excels. The SV trim provides a significant technology boost over the base model, making it a much more comfortable daily driver for the UAE's stop-start traffic. Its vibrant Red exterior stands out while maintaining the model's legendary reputation for strong resale value in the local market. For any buyer prioritizing low running costs and Japanese reliability, this GCC-spec sedan is a highly practical investment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Nissan Sunnys

At 99,145 km, this vehicle sits at a standard mileage for a three-year-old car in the GCC, where annual averages typically range between 25,000 and 30,000 km due to inter-emirate highway travel. While many used Sunnys are found in neutral white or silver, this Red example offers a unique aesthetic without sacrificing the model's inherently high demand in the secondary market. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for the region’s extreme summer heat and is supported by a comprehensive local warranty and service infrastructure.

SV vs Lower Trims

The SV trim is a major step up from the entry-level S, adding essential features that GCC buyers value, such as 16-inch alloy wheels and LED signature lighting. Inside, the SV enhances the driving experience with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a multi-function steering wheel. Unlike the base trim, the SV also includes premium cloth upholstery and additional convenience tech like keyless entry and cruise control for long desert highway drives.

Nissan Sunny vs Segment Rivals

The Sunny leads its primary rivals, the Toyota Yaris and Honda City, in terms of sheer cargo practicality with a generous 490-litre boot. While the Yaris is often praised for simplicity, the Sunny’s 1.6L engine offers a more refined power delivery for highway overtaking compared to the smaller engines found in some entry-level competitors. Additionally, Nissan’s air conditioning systems are widely regarded in the region for their ability to cool the cabin rapidly even in peak summer temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are among the lowest in the sedan segment, with a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 5.1 to 6.5 L/100km depending on driving conditions. Nissan's authorised service network is one of the most extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Historically, the Sunny retains roughly 65-75% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it one of the safest automotive investments for long-term value retention.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6L 4-cylinder engine produces a reliable 118 hp, providing smooth acceleration for city commuting and stable cruising at 120 km/h on the E11. Paired with a CVT automatic transmission, it is designed for maximum efficiency rather than raw speed, reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. Its front-wheel-drive layout and 10.6-meter turning circle make it exceptionally easy to park and navigate through tight urban environments like Dubai Marina or Riyadh’s city center.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite its compact exterior, the Sunny features a surprisingly spacious 5-seat cabin with 60/40 split-folding rear seats for added versatility. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC climate, featuring powerful vents that maintain comfort during the hottest months. Technology highlights include a user-friendly digital cockpit display and clear Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and media streaming during long commutes.

Safety

Standard safety features on the SV trim include the Nissan Advanced Airbag System with dual-stage supplemental front airbags. The vehicle is equipped with essential active safety tech such as Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist to ensure stability during sudden stops. For highway safety, the inclusion of Cruise Control and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System provides peace of mind during high-speed travel across the Emirates.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious professional or a small family, this GCC-spec Sunny SV offers modern connectivity and class-leading fuel economy in a reliable, high-resale package.
