Summary

This 2022 Macan represents a sharp entry point into Porsche ownership, featuring the significant interior and exterior updates introduced in the 2022 facelift. With its black-on-black color combination, it holds one of the strongest resale profiles in the GCC market, where neutral executive tones are consistently in high demand. Despite the mid-range mileage, the robust 4-cylinder engine is often favored by regional buyers for its cooling efficiency and lower maintenance complexity in desert climates compared to the larger V6 units. It bridges the gap between a focused driver's car and a luxury daily driver, maintaining the sharp handling Porsche is known for while offering practical dimensions for city navigation in Dubai or Riyadh.

This Car vs Other 2022 Macans

While average GCC annual use is typically higher than global marks, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with a car used for inter-emirate highway commuting. The black exterior is a primary choice for value retention in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale liquidity compared to niche colors. Choosing a 2022 model year over earlier versions is a significant advantage, as it includes the updated haptic-touch center console and the revised 911-inspired steering wheel.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the 2022 refresh, this model comes standard with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and a 10.9-inch HD touchscreen. It includes the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system and LED headlights with PDLS, which are essential for nighttime highway visibility across the GCC. While higher trims add larger V6 engines, this trim offers better front-end agility and improved fuel efficiency for daily stop-start traffic.

Macan vs Segment Rivals

Against the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Macan leads in driving dynamics and steering precision, feeling more like a lifted sports car than a traditional SUV. Its 488-litre boot provides competitive practicality for family use, and the Porsche PDK transmission is widely regarded as the fastest and smoothest in this class. For GCC buyers, the Macan's strong brand cachet and superior value retention often make it a more sensible long-term investment than its German rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is designed for efficiency, returning approximately 9.3 to 10.1 L/100km on the combined cycle, making it ideal for the long-distance highway hauls common in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Porsche’s GCC authorized service network is extensive, with intervals recommended every 15,000 km or 12 months, ensuring long-term mechanical health in extreme temperatures. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the warranty and cooling concerns associated with imports, helping it retain value better than non-regional counterparts.

Performance & Capability

Reaching a top speed of 232 km/h, this Macan delivers effortless overtaking power on regional highways like the E11 or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The updated 265 hp engine paired with All Wheel Drive provides exceptional stability during sudden rain or on the gravel surfaces often found on weekend getaways. While primarily road-biased, its 202mm ground clearance and multiple drive modes allow for confident navigation through unpaved access roads and diverse terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2022 refresh introduced a sleek, glass-look center console with touch-sensitive panels that modernize the cabin experience. A standard three-zone climate control system ensures rapid cooling for all five passengers, a critical feature for the intense GCC summer months. The interior is finished with high-quality materials and acoustic glass, providing a quiet, insulated environment that makes long cross-border drives feel significantly shorter.

Safety

Equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, this model includes Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Front and Rear ParkAssist as standard. These systems are particularly beneficial for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic and tight mall parking in major GCC cities. The Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system works continuously in the background, providing an extra layer of security during high-speed highway cruising or in low-traction conditions.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking the Porsche badge with daily practicality and a modern cabin, this facelifted Macan offers the perfect balance of performance and regional resale strength.
