Summary

This GCC-spec 2022 RAV4 EX represents one of the most practical entry points into the compact SUV segment, offering a balance of efficiency and durability that rivals struggle to match. With 75,000 km, the mileage is perfectly in line with average GCC annual usage, ensuring the mechanical components remain in their prime for the next owner. The white exterior is the highest-demand color in the regional market, providing a significant advantage for heat reflection and future resale value. As a 2.0L 4WD variant, it provides the essential all-weather traction needed for light gravel and rainy conditions without the higher fuel costs of larger engines. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, this is a low-risk investment backed by the region's most accessible parts and service infrastructure.

This Car vs Other 2022 RAV4s

At 75,000 km, this RAV4 has been driven approximately 25,000 km per year, which is the standard average for highway commuters in the GCC. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, as it retains value better than darker shades and handles the extreme summer sun with ease. Unlike many American-spec imports found at auction, this GCC-spec unit ensures full compatibility with local service centers and regional cooling requirements.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim offers a significant step up from the base LE by incorporating key convenience features like a rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors as standard. It also benefits from the smart key system with push-button start and alloy wheels, providing a more premium feel and better curb appeal. These additions are highly sought after by GCC buyers and directly contribute to the car's stronger retention of value compared to entry-level variants.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Honda CR-V or Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 stands out primarily for its legendary reliability and the sheer density of its service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While rivals might offer different interior layouts, the RAV4 leads in long-term trustworthiness and the availability of affordable genuine parts. Its 4WD system is also better suited for the light desert-fringe driving often encountered during weekend trips in the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L engine delivers a highly competitive combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.0 L/100km, making it an economical choice for both Dubai city traffic and long-distance hauls to Abu Dhabi. Toyota remains the benchmark for resale value in the GCC, typically losing only 8-10% annually compared to the 15% or higher seen in European luxury brands. Service intervals are set at 10,000 km, with minor services being exceptionally affordable at authorized centers across all Emirates.

Performance & Capability

The 200 hp engine provides reliable power delivery through an automatic transmission, ensuring smooth highway overtaking and effortless cruising at 120 km/h. With its four-wheel-drive system and a ground clearance of approximately 190 mm, it handles gravel tracks and sandy parking lots at the beach with total confidence. Three selectable drive modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—allow you to prioritize fuel savings during the work week or responsiveness for weekend drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five occupants with a focus on durability, featuring high-quality fabric seating that stays cool even in the height of the GCC summer. Dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents ensures all passengers remain comfortable during long cross-country trips. The boot space is remarkably practical, offering 580 litres of volume which expands significantly when the rear seats are folded flat for larger family cargo.

Safety

Standard safety features on this EX trim include an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and a comprehensive airbag system for passenger protection. Active stability control and traction control provide essential safety on wet or sandy road surfaces, while the integrated parking sensors and rear camera make navigating tight city parking spaces stress-free. These systems work together to ensure a high level of security for family commuters in fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

This 2022 RAV4 EX is the ideal choice for a professional or small family seeking the ultimate 'peace of mind' vehicle that balances modern features with the GCC's best resale potential.
