Summary

This nearly-new 2023 Audi R8 V10 Performance represents one of the final opportunities to own a naturally aspirated V10 supercar before the era of electrification fully takes over. With a staggeringly low odometer reading of just 900 km, it sits in a bracket of its own compared to the typical 10,000 km annual usage seen in the GCC premium market. The rare Green exterior provides a refreshing and highly distinctive alternative to the common grayscale palette found on local roads, which often aids in faster resale to collectors looking for unique specifications. As a Rear Wheel Drive variant, it offers a more purist, engaging driving dynamic than the standard Quattro models, making it a standout choice for enthusiasts who frequent the Dubai Autodrome or Yas Marina Circuit. For a GCC buyer, the combination of mid-engine balance and open-top convertible capability makes it the quintessential weekend grand tourer for the cooler months between November and April. This specific listing is a collector-grade example that allows you to bypass the long wait times traditionally associated with bespoke European performance imports while securing a piece of automotive history that is no longer in production.

This Car vs Other 2023 R8s

While most 2023 models currently on the market have already undergone their first major service and have seen significant road time across the Emirates, this example is effectively in showroom condition with just 900 km. In the GCC market, where highway-heavy commutes mean even supercars can rack up mileage quickly, such a low-distance example is rare and highly sought after by those prioritizing mechanical longevity. The European specification ensures a high level of interior finish and tech integration that remains compatible with local expectations, although buyers should verify the local Audi service center's policy on international warranty transfers. The vibrant Green paintwork is a significant departure from the standard silver and white commonly seen in the region, providing a unique identity that often commands a higher premium among niche buyers in the secondary market. Choosing a car with this specific mileage profile means you are essentially the first real driver, inheriting a vehicle that has spent the majority of its life in climate-controlled storage rather than the harsh UV exposure of a typical outdoor driveway.

V10 PERFORMANCE vs Lower Trims

The V10 Performance trim is the pinnacle of the R8 hierarchy, offering significant upgrades over the standard V10 model that a discerning GCC driver will appreciate. Most notably, this trim features a more aggressive aerodynamic package and a specifically tuned chassis that sharpens the handling for high-speed stability on the expansive UAE highway network. Inside, the Performance trim typically includes the Bang & Olufsen Sound System as standard, delivering 13 speakers of acoustic precision that remains clear even with the convertible top down at speed. You also get a more driver-focused interior with Nappa leather and carbon fiber accents that elevate the cabin atmosphere well beyond the base specifications. Unlike lower trims, the Performance variant utilizes lightweight materials in the suspension and braking systems to reduce unsprung weight, resulting in a more immediate and visceral connection to the road. For the local market, the inclusion of improved cooling systems associated with this higher output engine is a vital advantage during the transition into the warmer months.

R8 vs Segment Rivals

The R8 sits in a competitive space alongside the Lamborghini Huracán and the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, yet it carves out a unique position as the more usable daily supercar. While the Huracán shares the same glorious hand-built V10 engine, the Audi offers a more sophisticated and ergonomically friendly interior that is easier to live with for long drives from Dubai to Muscat. Compared to the Porsche 911 Turbo, the R8 provides a dramatic, mid-engine visual presence and a soundtrack that a turbocharged flat-six simply cannot replicate, which is a key priority for enthusiasts in the GCC who value theater and sound. The rear-wheel-drive configuration here also offers a lighter, more agile feel than the AWD systems found in many rivals, giving the driver a more traditional sports car experience. Furthermore, Audi’s MMI infotainment system is widely regarded as one of the most intuitive in the segment, ensuring that navigation and climate controls are never a distraction while navigating the fast-paced traffic of Riyadh or Doha.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a high-performance V10 in the GCC is surprisingly manageable thanks to the wide availability of 98-octane fuel across all major stations. Real-world fuel consumption typically hovers around 13-15 liters per 100km on the highway, though city driving in heavy traffic will see that figure rise significantly. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km or 12 months, and while this is a European spec car, the wide network of Audi authorized centers in nearly every GCC capital ensures that parts and expert technicians are always within reach. The R8 maintains one of the strongest resale values in the supercar segment because it marks the end of Audi's internal combustion flagship era, with annual depreciation typically tracking lower than its British or Italian counterparts at approximately 12%. At the 3-year mark, a well-maintained, low-mileage R8 like this one often retains a higher percentage of its value due to its iconic status and the disappearance of high-displacement engines from manufacturer lineups. Prospective owners should anticipate premium insurance rates, though the car's reputation for reliability compared to more temperamental exotics helps keep long-term maintenance costs predictable.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this machine is the 5.2-liter V10 engine, producing a massive 525 horsepower that propels the car from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. This level of acceleration is ideal for the short merge lanes and high-speed flow of the Sheikh Zayed Road, providing effortless overtaking power at any speed. With a top speed exceeding 320 km/h, the R8 is engineered for sustained high-speed cruising, showing remarkable stability even in the crosswinds often encountered on open desert highways. The Rear Wheel Drive setup provides a purist driving experience, allowing for a more playful rear end while the traction control systems remain sophisticated enough to manage the power on sandy or dusty surfaces. The seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission delivers lightning-fast shifts that are barely perceptible during casual driving but become sharp and aggressive in Sport mode. Despite being a low-slung supercar, the R8 offers enough ground clearance to navigate typical urban speed bumps and underground parking ramps found in modern GCC shopping malls and office towers without constant anxiety.

Comfort & Cabin

The R8 cabin is a masterpiece of minimalist luxury, designed to wrap around the two occupants without the cluttered feel of many modern cockpits. The Virtual Cockpit replaces traditional gauges with a high-resolution 12.3-inch display, putting all navigation and vehicle data directly in the driver's line of sight, which is essential for safety during high-speed travel. For the GCC climate, the air conditioning system is exceptionally robust, capable of cooling the compact cabin in minutes even after the car has been parked in the sun. The seats are highly adjustable and provide excellent lateral support for spirited driving while remaining comfortable enough for a three-hour journey between emirates. High-quality materials like Alcantara and fine leather are used throughout, providing a tactile sense of quality that justifies its flagship status. As a convertible, the acoustic roof can be raised or lowered in just 20 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h, allowing you to quickly adapt to changing weather or noise levels. Noise insulation with the top up is remarkably good, effectively filtering out the roar of surrounding highway traffic and construction.

Safety

Safety in the R8 is handled by a suite of advanced systems designed to keep the car composed under extreme conditions. The Audi Side Assist provides critical blind-spot monitoring, which is a vital feature for the multi-lane highway environments of the UAE and Saudi Arabia where fast-moving vehicles can appear suddenly. Standard front and rear parking sensors, paired with a high-definition rearview camera, make maneuvering this wide-bodied supercar into tight spots much simpler. The car features a high-strength aluminum Space Frame construction that provides incredible structural rigidity, which is especially important for safety in a convertible model. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is specifically tuned for the RWD layout, ensuring that the car remains pointed in the intended direction even if the driver is over-eager with the throttle on a dusty surface. While many supercars can feel daunting, the R8’s predictable handling and powerful braking system, featuring multi-piston calipers, provide a sense of security and confidence that is rarely matched in this performance bracket.

The bottom line

For the collector or enthusiast who wants the final iteration of the legendary V10 engine in a virtually new condition, this 900 km R8 is an unbeatable find in the region. Its rare green-over-performance specification and convertible top make it the ultimate trophy for those who value both exclusivity and a raw, mechanical connection to the road.
