Summary

This 2023 740i M Sport represents a strategic entry point into BMW’s seventh-generation flagship, offering the latest in automotive technology and executive refinement. While its mileage reflects a busy three-year tenure on GCC highways, it remains a mechanically sound Choice for buyers who prioritize current-gen styling and tech over garage-queen status. The grey exterior is a highly liquid resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring easier trade-ins when you decide to upgrade. Compared to its predecessor, this generation introduces the impressive Interaction Bar and curved digital cockpit, setting a new benchmark for cabin atmosphere. This is the ideal executive sedan for those wanting the presence of a new 7 Series with the durability of BMW’s proven 3.0-litre powertrain.

This Car vs Other 2023 740is

With 150,000 km over 3 years, this vehicle has seen significantly more use than the average GCC luxury sedan, which typically covers 20,000–25,000 km annually. However, for a car of this caliber, these are almost certainly highway kilometers between Emirates, which are often less taxing on the powertrain than stop-start city traffic. The grey finish is one of the most resilient and sought-after colors in the local market, offering better heat reflection and higher resale demand than darker shades.

M SPORT vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim is the essential choice for GCC buyers, adding the aggressive aerodynamic body kit and 20-inch M-specific wheels that define the car's presence. Inside, it adds the M leather steering wheel and unique interior trim finishes that distinguish it from the Pure Excellence styling. Most importantly, the M Sport package typically includes the adaptive two-axle air suspension and the upgraded 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, providing a superior acoustic and ride experience compared to entry-level configurations.

740i vs Segment Rivals

The 7 Series leads the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8 in digital innovation, specifically with the 14.9-inch curved display and touch-sensitive Interaction Bar. Its 3.0-litre inline-six is widely regarded as more engaging than the Audi A8's V6, while offering better real-world fuel efficiency for long-distance cruising than the S450. The BMW also boasts superior maneuverability in tight city parking thanks to its standard all-wheel steering system, a feature that feels particularly helpful in Dubai or Riyadh's busy urban centers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid powertrain averages approximately 7.9 to 9.0 L/100km on GCC highways, though city driving in heavy traffic can see this rise toward 11 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 to 12,000 km, managed by BMW's Condition Based Service system, with a wide network of authorized centers across the UAE, KSA, and Kuwait. While high-mileage luxury sedans depreciate faster than low-mileage examples, the GCC-spec status and popular M Sport trim provide a solid floor for value retention compared to imported American or European models.

Performance & Capability

The 740i delivers a swift 0-100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds, ensuring confident overtaking on the E11 or other major highways. The 375 hp inline-six is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an extra 200 Nm of torque for smoother low-speed acceleration and stop-start transitions. The all-wheel-drive system provides added stability during the occasional winter rain or on gravel-strewn desert roads, while the 250 km/h limited top speed highlights its long-distance cruising pedigree.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for ultimate summer comfort, featuring four-zone automatic climate control and a Panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof that creates a spectacular evening ambiance. Acoustic glazing ensures the interior remains a quiet sanctuary even at high cruising speeds, effectively blocking out wind and road noise. Rear passengers benefit from electric sunblinds and ample legroom, making it a viable chauffeur-driven vehicle for executive commutes across the Emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed by BMW’s most advanced suite, including Active Blind Spot Protection and Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation. For long desert drives, the standard Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning significantly reduce driver fatigue. The vehicle also features a 360° Surround View camera system, which is indispensable for navigating a sedan of this length through narrow parking garages and crowded city streets.

The bottom line

This is a high-spec, current-generation executive flagship for the buyer who wants the latest BMW technology and M Sport presence at a price point that reflects its well-traveled highway history.
