Summary

This 2023 C5 Aircross Shine represents a sophisticated choice in the compact SUV market, especially in the sought-after blue exterior which holds its appeal well in the GCC. With mileage typical for its age in the region, it has been driven mainly on well-maintained highways, ensuring the mechanical components remain in excellent order. The Shine trim stands out by offering a level of comfort and technology usually reserved for luxury segments, most notably Citroen's unique hydraulic cushion suspension. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, this provides a plush, refined ride that handles both city traffic and long-distance desert cruises with ease. It is a compelling alternative for those who prioritize cabin comfort and individual style over the common segment staples.

This Car vs Other 2023 C5 Aircrosses

At 80,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is standard for a GCC-based car of this year, reflecting the frequent long-distance commutes between emirates. The vibrant blue paint is a distinctive and durable choice that maintains a high resale interest compared to more common white or silver variants. It has been maintained within the regional climate, ensuring the cooling systems and interior materials are prepared for high-temperature durability.

SHINE vs Lower Trims

The Shine trim is the range-topping specification in the GCC, adding significant upgrades over the Feel trim including a panoramic glass sunroof and a larger 10-inch high-definition infotainment screen. It also features a hands-free electric tailgate and a full 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which significantly enhances the daily convenience and premium feel for the driver. Additional safety tech like blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist are standard only on this top-tier model.

C5 Aircross vs Segment Rivals

The C5 Aircross leads its class in ride quality thanks to the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® suspension, offering a 'magic carpet' feel that rivals like the Peugeot 3008 and Toyota RAV4 cannot match. It also features three individual sliding and reclining rear seats, providing superior flexibility for families compared to the fixed benches found in most competitors. With 230 mm of ground clearance, it offers better protection against high curbs and rougher terrain than many on-road biased crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine averages approximately 7.9L/100km, performing efficiently on highway stretches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Citroen has a well-established service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard maintenance intervals recommended every 10,000 km to ensure longevity in the heat. While European SUVs typically see higher initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the high equipment level of the Shine trim helps it retain value better than base models.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 165 hp, the C5 Aircross delivers smooth and linear acceleration suitable for highway overtaking. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for comfort, ensuring seamless shifts during stop-start city traffic. Though a front-wheel-drive biased platform, its class-leading ground clearance and specialized suspension make it more than capable of handling light gravel tracks and weekend escapes to the outdoors.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around Citroen's Advanced Comfort seats, which use high-density foam to provide exceptional support during long drives across the GCC. Dual-zone climate control with rear dedicated vents ensures the interior stays cool even when temperatures exceed 45°C. The individual rear seating configuration allows you to prioritize either legroom or cargo space, making it one of the most practical five-seaters in the compact SUV segment.

Safety

This Shine trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite designed for fast-moving highway environments, including Active Safety Brake and a Blind Spot Monitoring system. It also features six airbags as standard and has earned a high rating in Euro NCAP testing, reflecting its robust structural integrity. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors coupled with a high-resolution rearview camera makes navigating tight urban parking spaces effortless.

The bottom line

Perfect for the design-conscious professional or small family, this C5 Aircross Shine offers a level of comfort and tech-forward features that make it a standout value in the current GCC used market.
