Summary

This 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE in Onyx Black offers the ideal balance of V8 power and modern tech in the highly coveted Regular Cab configuration. While its mileage reflects frequent use on GCC highways, it has been engineered for the specific demands of high-utilization environments where durability is non-negotiable. As an SLE trim, it stands out with a refined interior that rivals premium SUVs, moving far beyond the utility-focused base models. Black remains a top-tier resale color in the UAE and wider Gulf region, ensuring strong value retention for the next owner. For the GCC buyer, this truck serves as both a powerful desert-ready companion and a sophisticated daily driver with superior cabin cooling and connectivity.

This Car vs Other 2023 Sierras

With 125,000 km, this Sierra's mileage is slightly above the typical annual average for the GCC but perfectly reflects the highway-heavy driving common in the region. Unlike lower-spec or higher-mileage alternatives, this 2023 model benefits from the recent major interior refresh, giving it a significant tech advantage. The Onyx Black exterior is a massive resale benefit, as it remains one of the most sought-after colors in the local used market.

1500 REGULAR CAB SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE trim is a substantial step up from the base Pro model, replacing the basic 7-inch display with a massive 13.4-inch horizontal touchscreen and a fully digital 12.3-inch driver information center. It also adds critical GCC comfort features such as cruise control, high-quality cloth upholstery, and additional interior insulation for a quieter highway experience. You also get the world's first six-function MultiPro Tailgate, which provides significantly better utility for loading and access.

Sierra vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500, the Sierra is often preferred in the GCC for its balance of traditional V8 reliability and cutting-edge cabin technology. Its 5.3L V8 is a legend for durability in extreme heat, avoiding the complexity of smaller turbocharged engines found in some rivals. The Sierra's infotainment system is widely considered the most intuitive and visually impressive in the current pickup segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.3L V8 delivers approximately 11.5 L/100km on GCC highways, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this rise significantly. Service intervals are standard at every 10,000 km, and GMC's authorized service network—including Al Ghandi and Aljomaih—is exceptionally strong across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Resale value for the Sierra remains among the highest in the 1/2-ton segment, typically depreciating slower than European luxury equivalents due to high regional demand for American V8 trucks.

Performance & Capability

The 355 hp V8 provides effortless highway overtaking and robust torque for deep sand excursions. Equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and selectable drive modes, this Sierra is purpose-built for the diverse terrains of the UAE and Oman. While technically a workhorse, the 10-speed automatic transmission ensures that power delivery is smooth enough for long-distance family trips between emirates. Ground clearance is optimized for both site work and weekend desert camping.

Comfort & Cabin

The Regular Cab configuration provides a surprisingly spacious 3-seat bench with a fold-down center armrest that doubles as a large console. GMC's air conditioning is specifically tuned for the Gulf's 45°C+ summers, ensuring the cabin stays chilled even during the hottest months. The digital cockpit is a standout feature, allowing the driver to customize navigation and vehicle stats right in their line of sight. High-quality materials and multiple USB charging points make it a refined office on wheels.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the SLE trim includes frontal collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist, both of which are invaluable on the fast-moving highways of the GCC. It also features a high-definition rearview camera and StabiliTrak stability control with proactive roll avoidance, providing confidence whether you are navigating a job site or a mountain pass in Hatta.

The bottom line

This Sierra is the perfect opportunity for a buyer who wants a modern, tech-forward V8 truck that has already proven its reliability across the GCC's long-distance routes.
