GMC Yukon SLE

Highlights

• 355 hp from a 5.3L V8 engine
• 91-litre fuel tank for long-distance range
• Eight seats with standard tri-zone climate control

Summary

This 2023 Yukon SLE offers a practical entry into the full-size SUV segment, featuring a robust V8 powertrain perfectly suited for the region's high-speed highways. While the mileage reflects active use, the Yukon's body-on-frame construction is engineered for high-duty cycles common in the GCC, and the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the local market. Compared to smaller crossovers, the Yukon provides genuine eight-passenger capacity and significant presence on the road. For the GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the extensive service network and parts availability shared with Chevrolet, ensuring long-term ease of maintenance. This specific listing represents a modern, tech-forward generation of the Yukon that excels in both family logistics and long-distance desert highway travel.

This Car vs Other 2023 Yukons

With 179,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly more than the GCC annual average of 25,000 km. However, in the local market, high highway mileage is often preferred over city idling as it suggests better engine cooling and less wear on the transmission. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, providing a distinct advantage when it comes time to trade in.

SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE serves as the entry point for the Yukon lineup, yet it still includes the 10.2-inch premium infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Unlike lower-tier full-size SUVs, the SLE comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster and a comprehensive safety suite, offering a modern cabin experience without the added maintenance complexity of the higher trims' air suspension systems.

Yukon vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Nissan Armada or Toyota Sequoia, the Yukon stands out with its 91-litre fuel tank, which is essential for cross-border drives or long stretches between stations in the desert. It leads the segment in third-row legroom and cargo flexibility, offering a flatter load floor than many competitors, making it the preferred choice for large families who prioritize interior volume.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.3L V8 typically averages around 13-14 L/100km on GCC highways, though city stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh can see this rise to 16 L/100km. The Yukon benefits from one of the strongest authorized service networks in the region, with parts widely available at competitive price points. While it depreciates faster than Japanese rivals like the Land Cruiser, it retains value better than European luxury SUVs, typically holding about 65% of its value after three years in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 5.3L V8 produces 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque, providing effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h highways even when fully loaded with eight passengers. Its 10-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned for smooth shifts, maintaining efficiency during long-distance cruises between emirates. With a robust towing capacity of up to 3,800 kg when properly equipped, it is a capable workhorse for hauling boats or trailers for weekend getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme GCC heat, featuring a powerful tri-zone automatic climate control system with dedicated roof-mounted vents for both second and third-row passengers. The SLE trim provides a spacious 8-seat layout with durable cloth upholstery that stays cooler than leather during peak summer months. Excellent cabin insulation minimizes road and wind noise, ensuring a quiet environment during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Standard safety features include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking, which are vital for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The Yukon also features a Rear Seat Reminder and a suite of airbags designed to protect all three rows. Its heavy-duty frame and advanced stability control provide a stable, planted feel on both paved roads and gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This Yukon SLE is an ideal match for a large family looking for a modern, reliable V8 workhorse with a strong service footprint across the GCC. It offers the latest generation's technology and space at a price point that acknowledges its highway-heavy history.
