Summary

This 2023 Hyundai Creta GL Smart offers a highly efficient ownership experience with a mileage profile that aligns perfectly with its three-year age in the GCC market. Finished in Grey, a color known for maintaining strong resale value and hiding desert dust better than darker tones, it stands out as a practical choice for both city commuting and weekend trips. The GL Smart trim balances essential modern tech like smartphone integration with the long-term reliability of Hyundai's 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the extensive service network and proven heat tolerance make this a low-risk, high-utility crossover that holds its value well.

This Car vs Other 2023 Cretas

At 56,000 km, this vehicle's usage is consistent with typical GCC annual driving patterns of roughly 18,000 to 20,000 km per year. The Grey exterior is a strategic choice for the region, offering better resale prospects than niche colors while being significantly easier to maintain in high-dust environments. Compared to higher-mileage examples often found in the secondary market, this unit sits in a sweet spot of depreciation and mechanical health.

GL SMART vs Lower Trims

The GL Smart trim is a significant step up from the base GL, most notably adding the 8-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto—a must-have for navigating GCC cities. It also introduces convenience features like a rearview monitor and cruise control, which are often absent on entry-level models. These additions not only improve the daily driving experience but also make the car much more desirable when it comes time to sell.

Creta vs Segment Rivals

The Creta competes directly with the Nissan Kicks and Kia Seltos, leading the pack in terms of rear legroom and overall cabin practicality. Its 433-litre boot is generous for the sub-compact SUV class, making it more capable of handling family grocery runs or airport trips than the Toyota Raize. Hyundai's focus on air conditioning performance ensures a cabin that cools down faster during peak summer months compared to some European rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

With a manufacturer-claimed combined fuel consumption of 5.9 L/100km, the Creta is among the most economical non-hybrid SUVs in the region. Hyundai's authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and maintenance is straightforward. The model typically sees a stable depreciation rate of approximately 10-12% annually, performing better than most American or Chinese competitors in the same segment.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-liter Smartstream engine produces 115 hp, prioritizing smooth power delivery and fuel efficiency over raw speed. On the highway, the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) keeps revs low for a quiet cabin, while the 190 mm ground clearance provides peace of mind when navigating speed bumps or unpaved parking areas. It is designed specifically for urban agility and long-distance comfort rather than heavy off-roading.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Creta features a five-seat layout with dedicated rear AC vents, which is critical for passenger comfort in the GCC climate. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior noise, and the GL Smart trim includes a wireless phone charger to keep devices powered during long inter-emirate drives. The 60:40 split-folding rear seats allow for flexible cargo configurations, expanding the utility for larger items.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of standard features including dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Electronic Stability Control. It also features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which is vital for maintaining safety during high-temperature highway runs. Hill-start Assist Control and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines provide additional confidence during daily urban maneuvers.

The bottom line

Perfect for the small family or professional commuter, this GCC-spec Creta offers modern connectivity and exceptional fuel economy with the reliability of a leading regional service network.
