Summary

This 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is a versatile family workhorse that bridges the gap between urban efficiency and road-trip capability. With the Smart Plus trim, you benefit from essential tech upgrades like a larger touchscreen and wireless connectivity that rivals usually lock behind much higher price tags. Having covered 60,000 km in three years, it sits exactly on the expected mileage curve for a GCC-driven family vehicle, suggesting a life spent largely on well-maintained UAE highways. The Red exterior is a refreshing break from the monochrome norm while remaining a popular enough choice to hold steady resale value. For a growing family in the Emirates, this is one of the most practical ways to secure 7-seat capacity with Hyundai's renowned regional parts availability.

This Car vs Other 2023 Santa Fes

With 60,000 km on the odometer, this Santa Fe has averaged 20,000 km per year, which is considered perfectly average and healthy for the GCC used market where highway commuting is common. Unlike American-spec imports often found at this price point, this is a genuine GCC-spec vehicle, ensuring the cooling system and AC are built to withstand 50°C summers. The Red finish is a vibrant, premium-tier color that maintains strong curb appeal and avoids the 'fleet' look often associated with white base models.

SMART PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Smart Plus trim is a significant jump over the base Smart trim, adding high-demand features like a 10.25-inch navigation-capable touchscreen and a wireless charging pad. It also upgrades the interior with more durable seating materials and provides a better audio experience through a more powerful sound system. For GCC buyers, the inclusion of a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and front/rear sensors makes navigating tight mall parking structures much simpler than in the entry-level variant.

Santa Fe vs Segment Rivals

The Santa Fe leads rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Nissan X-Terra in terms of on-road refinement and cabin technology, offering a car-like monocoque ride that is much smoother for city commutes. While the Kia Sorento shares its mechanical DNA, the Hyundai often commands better brand recognition and a slightly more extensive service network across the wider GCC. Its 7-seat configuration remains more accessible and easier to configure than the tighter third rows found in compact crossovers like the Honda CR-V.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages around 11.5 km/L, which is efficient for a 7-seater during long-distance drives between Emirates. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 6 months, and Hyundai's massive network across the UAE, KSA, and Oman ensures parts are affordable and always in stock. This model has shown excellent value retention at the 3-year mark, typically depreciating slower than European rivals due to its reputation for long-term mechanical durability.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L Smartstream engine produces 180 hp, providing smooth and linear power delivery ideal for cruising at 120 km/h on the E11. While this front-wheel-drive model is not intended for heavy dune bashing, its 176 mm ground clearance is more than enough for gravel tracks, wadi access roads, and high-speed highway stability. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for comfort, ensuring gear changes are nearly imperceptible during stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed specifically for family logistics, featuring a 2-3-2 seating layout where the second row can slide and recline for maximum legroom. To combat the GCC heat, the air conditioning system is particularly robust, featuring dedicated vents for the rear passengers to ensure the whole cabin cools down rapidly after being parked in the sun. Practical touches like multiple USB ports and ample storage bins make it an ideal companion for the long road trip to Salalah or Jebel Jais.

Safety

This Santa Fe comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and ABS with Brake Assist for emergency stops. The Smart Plus trim often includes Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, which is vital for safe lane changes on fast-moving, multi-lane GCC highways. It also features ISOFIX anchors in the second row, making it easy to secure child seats for younger family members.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Smart Plus is the ideal choice for a buyer who needs 7-seat utility and modern tech without the premium price of a 4WD, backed by the best service network in the region.
