Summary

This 2023 Hyundai Sonata Smart is a standout choice for those seeking a modern executive sedan without the premium price tag. With mileage that reflects typical GCC highway use, it remains mechanically sound and well-suited for long-distance commutes between Emirates. The White exterior is widely considered the most practical choice for the region, offering superior heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale liquidity in the local market. Compared to its rivals, the Sonata provides a more futuristic cabin and a smoother ride, making it a highly rational purchase for professionals and families alike. Backed by a vast service network, this vehicle ensures low long-term maintenance stress across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

This Car vs Other 2023 Sonatas

At 71,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is average for a 2023 model in the GCC, where long-distance highway driving is standard. Unlike many high-mileage fleet examples, this car has been used within typical personal-use parameters, preserving the interior and mechanical integrity. The white paint is the strongest resale color in the UAE, ensuring you have the easiest exit strategy when it is time to upgrade.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The Smart trim is the mid-tier sweet spot, adding essential GCC comforts over the base Fleet specification. It typically features upgraded LED daytime running lights, a larger 8-inch infotainment screen with smartphone integration, and rear parking sensors that are vital for city navigation. You also benefit from cruise control and rear AC vents, which are non-negotiable for passenger comfort during the peak summer months.

Sonata vs Segment Rivals

While the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are traditional choices, the Sonata leads the segment in cabin technology and visual design. It offers a more compliant suspension setup than the Accord, making it better for the varied road surfaces found in older urban areas. Additionally, Hyundai's aggressive feature packaging means you get a more premium-feeling interior layout than a similarly priced base-trim Camry.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L engine achieves a verified 8.0 L/100km combined, offering a competitive balance between power and fuel spend in stop-start traffic. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully compatible with local fuel grades and benefits from an authorized service network that is among the most extensive in the region, including Juma Al Majid and Al Otaiba. While it depreciates faster than a Camry, the lower initial entry price for a 2023 model makes it a high-value acquisition for the second owner.

Performance & Capability

The 180 hp naturally aspirated engine delivers a smooth 0–100 km/h time of 9.0 seconds, providing steady power for highway overtaking. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for refinement rather than aggressive shifts, ensuring a quiet cabin during high-speed cruising. Front-wheel drive provides predictable handling on both wet coastal roads and dusty inland highways, supported by multiple drive modes to suit your environment.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the GCC ownership experience, featuring a powerful climate control system and dedicated rear vents to combat extreme heat. With a 5-seat layout and a generous 510-litre boot, it easily accommodates family road trips or executive airport runs. The Smart trim’s upholstery is durable and heat-resistant, while the acoustic insulation effectively blocks out road noise during long desert drives.

Safety

Standard safety features on the Smart trim include dual front airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Electronic Stability Control, which is essential for maintaining traction on sandy surfaces. The inclusion of a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is a vital safety layer for the high-temperature GCC climate, alerting you to fluctuations before they become a highway hazard. Rear parking sensors and a high-definition camera facilitate safe maneuvering in tight Dubai or Abu Dhabi parking structures.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious professional who wants a late-model sedan with modern tech, this Sonata offers the ideal balance of GCC-ready specs and strong resale color.
