Summary

This 3-year-old Hyundai Tucson SMART offers a compelling entry into the modern SUV segment, particularly for those prioritizing tech and urban efficiency. With 97,000 km, its mileage reflects consistent highway use, common for secondary-market vehicles in the region. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC, known for its high resale demand and heat-reflective properties. As a SMART trim, it balances essential driver aids with a refined cabin, standing out against more basic competitors with its premium interior finish. For any buyer in the UAE or across the GCC, the extensive availability of official service centers ensures long-term maintenance is straightforward and predictable.

This Car vs Other 2023 Tucsons

While many 2023 Tucsons in the GCC market average 60,000 to 75,000 km, this vehicle's 97,000 km reflects a higher usage pattern often associated with long-distance commuting between emirates. The silver paintwork is a significant advantage for local resale, consistently outperforming darker colors in the used market. Despite the mileage, the 2023 model year remains highly relevant with the current generation's styling and tech suite.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim elevates the experience over base models by including Hyundai's SmartSense safety features like Lane Following Assist and Smart Cruise Control, which are essential for long GCC highway drives. It also upgrades the interior with more premium materials and typically includes a larger touchscreen interface and enhanced connectivity. These additions directly contribute to a higher value retention compared to the more basic entry-level trims.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

The Tucson competes directly with the Kia Sportage and Toyota RAV4, offering a more avant-garde design and a tech-forward cabin that rivals often reserve for higher price brackets. It leads in cargo versatility with a 539-litre boot, providing more usable space for family gear than many competitors in its class. Additionally, the standard availability of features like wireless smartphone integration gives it an edge for daily commuters.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6L engine typically averages between 7.5L and 8.2L/100km, making it an efficient choice for stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai. Maintenance is supported by one of the region's largest authorized networks, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. While Korean-spec models may face different warranty terms than local units, the Tucson's popularity ensures parts are widely available and affordable across the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6L engine delivers a balanced 132 hp, optimized for smooth urban driving and fuel-efficient highway cruising. The Front Wheel Drive system is perfectly suited for the well-maintained highways of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, providing reliable traction in all weather conditions. It offers selectable drive modes, including an Eco setting that helps maximize the 54-litre fuel tank's range during long-distance inter-city trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the GCC summer in mind, featuring a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated rear passenger vents to ensure all five occupants stay cool. Acoustic insulation helps minimize road noise during high-speed highway travel, creating a quiet environment for the standard 6-speaker audio system. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats allow for flexible cargo configurations, ideal for weekend road trips or large grocery runs.

Safety

This SMART trim comes equipped with an impressive suite of active safety technologies, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Following Assist, which significantly reduce driver fatigue on long desert roads. Standard safety features include a high-strength steel chassis, multiple airbags, and stability control systems designed to maintain composure on sandy or gravel-prone surfaces. The inclusion of a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines further simplifies urban parking in tight city spaces.

The bottom line

For the value-conscious buyer seeking a modern, tech-equipped SUV, this 2023 Tucson SMART offers contemporary styling and essential driver aids in the most resale-friendly color for the GCC market.
