Summary

This 2023 JAC JS4 Luxury presents a compelling choice for buyers seeking a modern, tech-focused crossover without the premium price tag. Finished in a versatile Grey that holds its appeal well in the GCC resale market, this model features the higher-output 1.5L turbocharged engine, providing a more confident drive on fast-moving UAE highways compared to naturally aspirated rivals. With its sharp 'Parallel Geometry' styling and a cabin packed with digital displays, it feels significantly more contemporary than many established sub-compact SUVs. For the pragmatic GCC buyer, this is a well-maintained example of a vehicle that is rapidly gaining trust for its balance of features and efficiency.

This Car vs Other 2023 JAC JS4s

At 73,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is exactly in line with the GCC average of 25,000 km per year for a two-year-old car, indicating consistent highway use rather than harsh city stop-start wear. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice in the region, ensuring better liquidity and value retention when it comes time to trade in. It has been used as intended for regional commuting, avoiding the accelerated wear often seen in delivery-duty vehicles.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim is the sweet spot for GCC drivers, adding essential heat-management and convenience features not found on the base Comfort model. It upgrades the cabin with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera system that is indispensable for tight urban parking in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. You also benefit from automatic climate control and artificial leather upholstery, which offers better durability and easier cleaning than the standard fabric seats.

JS4 vs Segment Rivals

The JAC JS4 competes directly with the MG ZS and Changan CS35 Plus, leading the segment with a massive 520-litre boot that outperforms most peers. While rivals often feel cramped in the rear, the JS4’s wheels-at-the-corners packaging provides superior legroom for family road trips. Its turbocharged 148 hp engine offers a more responsive torque curve for highway overtaking than the naturally aspirated units found in entry-level Japanese competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 1.5T engine averages around 7.5 L/100km, making it an efficient commuter for long-distance drives across the Emirates. Authorized service support is robust through Al Habtoor Motors in the UAE, with intervals typically set at every 10,000 km to ensure the turbocharger stays healthy in extreme summer heat. While Chinese brands experience steeper initial depreciation than Japanese marques, the JS4’s high equipment level helps it maintain a stronger floor price in the 3-to-5-year bracket.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder, the JS4 delivers a peak torque of 210 Nm from as low as 2,000 rpm, ensuring smooth power delivery when merging into fast-moving traffic. The CVT is tuned for efficiency and comfort, providing a relaxed experience during the daily commute between Emirates. With a ground clearance of approximately 150 mm under full load, it easily handles high speed bumps and gravel tracks leading to weekend getaway spots.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is dominated by dual 10.25-inch screens that provide a high-tech atmosphere rarely found at this price point. Rear passengers are catered to with dedicated air vents—a must-have for the GCC summer—and the 60:40 split-folding seats allow the cargo area to expand to 1,050 litres. Acoustic insulation is designed to keep the cabin quiet during high-speed cruising, while the electric sunroof adds an airy feel to the darkened grey interior.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the Luxury trim, featuring a suite of airbags including dual front and side impact protection. Standard electronic aids like Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist, and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) provide peace of mind on both sandy secondary roads and rain-slicked highways. The 360-degree camera system acts as a primary safety feature, reducing blind spots significantly during low-speed maneuvers.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-savvy professional or a small family, this JS4 Luxury offers a high-feature ownership experience with a proven GCC service history at a fraction of the cost of its European or Japanese rivals.
