Summary

This 2023 Mercedes Benz A45 AMG-S represents the absolute pinnacle of the modern performance hatchback, offering supercar-level acceleration in a versatile five-door body. With its low mileage relative to the GCC average and meticulous GCC specification, it stands out as a premier choice for enthusiasts who demand both daily usability and track-ready dynamics. The AMG-S trim elevates the driving experience with the world’s most powerful series-production four-cylinder engine, making it a unique proposition in a market dominated by larger SUVs. Its sophisticated All Wheel Drive system provides immense confidence on the fast-moving highways of the UAE, ensuring stability during high-speed commutes between emirates. For a buyer in the Gulf region, this specific listing offers the perfect balance of a nearly-new vehicle with the initial depreciation already accounted for. It remains one of the most sought-after compact performance cars in the secondary market due to its rare combination of luxury, tech, and raw power.

This Car vs Other 2023 A45s

When comparing this specific 2023 model to others currently available in the GCC market, the mileage is a standout factor. At just 21,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the regional average of 25,000 km per year, suggesting it has been used primarily as a weekend car or for short city commutes rather than heavy inter-city travel. The Grey exterior is one of the most resilient and popular choices for the Gulf climate, as it hides the inevitable desert dust better than darker shades while maintaining a high resale demand. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it carries the peace of mind that the cooling systems and air conditioning are optimized for 45°C+ temperatures, unlike imported European or North American examples. This distinction is critical for maintaining long-term mechanical health in our unique environment. Furthermore, the interior condition reflects the low usage, presenting a cabin that still feels factory-fresh and free from the typical wear seen on higher-mileage examples of the same year.

AMG- S vs Lower Trims

The AMG-S is not merely a trim level; it is a comprehensive mechanical overhaul compared to the standard A-Class or even the entry-level AMG A35. Choosing the AMG-S gives you the 'One Man, One Engine' hand-built masterpiece, delivering a staggering 421 hp, which is a significant leap over the power found in lower variants. Beyond the raw output, the AMG-S includes the sophisticated AMG Torque Control rear differential, allowing for Drift Mode and more aggressive power distribution that enthusiasts in the region highly prize. You also benefit from a more aggressive aerodynamic package, larger high-performance brakes with red calipers, and a distinct interior featuring the AMG Performance steering wheel. In the GCC market, these high-spec features are what buyers look for at resale, as 'base' performance models often see much steeper depreciation. The inclusion of the Burmester surround sound system and the upgraded MBUX infotainment as standard on this trim ensures a luxury experience that matches its mechanical prowess.

A45 vs Segment Rivals

In the hyper-hatch segment, the Mercedes Benz A45 AMG-S competes directly with the Audi RS3 and the BMW M2. While the Audi offers a five-cylinder soundtrack and the BMW provides rear-wheel-drive purity, the Mercedes Benz leads the pack with the highest power output from a 2.0L engine, delivering a more high-tech and aggressive driving sensation. Its All Wheel Drive system is arguably the most advanced for daily driving on the varied surfaces found across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offering better traction in the occasional rain or sandy conditions. The interior technology in the A45 is widely considered the segment leader, with the dual-screen MBUX setup providing a more futuristic feel than its rivals. For those who frequently drive between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the Mercedes offers a more composed highway cruise with advanced driver assistance features that feel a generation ahead of the competition. It strikes a balance of being a refined luxury car when you want it and a focused performance machine when you need it.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a high-performance Mercedes Benz in the GCC is supported by one of the strongest service networks in the region, with major authorized centers across every emirate and throughout the wider Gulf. Real-world fuel consumption is surprisingly manageable for a car with 421 hp, averaging around 9.0L per 100km on long highway stretches, though city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see that figure rise. It is essential to use high-octane Super 98 fuel to maintain the performance and longevity of the hand-built engine. Maintenance follows a standard 15,000 km or annual interval, which is convenient for the average driver. While performance cars generally depreciate faster than luxury SUVs, the AMG-S holds its value remarkably well due to its iconic status and limited availability. You can expect a depreciation rate of approximately 12-15% annually, which is superior to many of its European competitors in this performance bracket. The GCC specification further protects your investment, ensuring the car remains eligible for official service packages and maintaining a higher trade-in value.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure for this car is its 0-100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds, a number that puts it firmly in the territory of dedicated sports cars. This explosive acceleration is managed by the AMG Speedshift 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, which provides lightning-fast gear changes that are particularly rewarding during spirited drives on the winding roads of Jebel Jais. The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system is specifically tuned to provide a rear-biased feel, giving you the agility of a rear-drive car with the safety net of front-wheel traction. For the GCC driver, this performance translates into effortless highway overtaking and the ability to merge into fast-moving traffic with total confidence. Multiple drive modes, ranging from Comfort to Race, allow you to transform the car's personality at the touch of a button, adjusting the exhaust note, suspension firmness, and throttle response. Despite its performance focus, the ground clearance is sufficient for standard city driving and speed bumps common in residential areas across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the A45 AMG-S offers a five-seat configuration that is surprisingly practical for a hatchback, making it a viable option for small families or young professionals. The cabin is heavily insulated from the external heat of the Gulf summer, and the Mercedes Benz climate control system is renowned for its ability to reach target temperatures rapidly even after the car has been parked in the sun. The AMG Performance seats provide exceptional lateral support during cornering while remaining comfortable enough for the three-hour drive from Dubai to Muscat. High-quality materials like Alcantara and leather are used throughout, accented by customizable ambient lighting that enhances the nighttime driving experience. The 5-door layout ensures easy access to the rear seats, which feature dedicated air vents to keep passengers cool—a must-have feature in our climate. The boot space is generous for the class, easily accommodating groceries or a couple of suitcases for a weekend getaway to a resort in Fujairah.

Safety

Safety is a paramount concern for Mercedes Benz, and this trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems. The 5-Star NCAP safety rating provides foundational peace of mind for all occupants. In the context of GCC driving, the Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist are invaluable for navigating the high-speed, multi-lane highways where traffic can be unpredictable. Active Brake Assist is standard, providing an extra layer of protection in heavy stop-and-go city traffic in areas like Downtown Dubai or West Bay. The car also features sophisticated stability and traction control systems that have been calibrated to handle the unique challenges of our roads, such as fine sand covering the asphalt or the high-heat-induced changes in tire pressure. Multiple airbags, including knee and curtain bags, ensure that in the unlikely event of an accident, all five passengers are well-protected by the latest in automotive safety engineering.

The bottom line

This A45 AMG-S is the perfect acquisition for the GCC enthusiast who wants supercar performance without sacrificing the practicality of a daily-driven hatchback. With its low mileage, GCC-specific cooling, and top-tier trim, it represents one of the most mechanically sound and value-retaining performance cars on the market today.
