Summary

This 2023 Mercedes Benz CLS53 AMG 4MATIC+ represents a unique opportunity to own one of the final production years of the iconic four-door coupe. With mileage sitting comfortably below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, this vehicle remains in peak mechanical condition. The combination of its potent 3.0L inline-six engine and the sophisticated 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system makes it an exceptional choice for the region's high-speed highways. Finished in a high-demand black exterior, it offers excellent resale potential in the UAE market where classic executive colors dominate the pre-owned segment. Buyers looking for the perfect blend of S-Class luxury and GT performance will find this trim particularly compelling. The most important consideration for a GCC buyer is the balance of performance and daily usability, and this Korean-spec model delivers an incredibly high standard of interior technology that rivals or exceeds many local variants.

This Car vs Other 2023 CLS53 AMGs

When comparing this specific 2023 CLS53 AMG to others on the market, the primary advantage is the careful balance of usage and maintenance. In the GCC, it is common for performance sedans to accumulate upwards of 25,000 km per year due to frequent travel between emirates like Dubai and Abu Dhabi; at 36,000 km total, this car has been driven moderately, preserving its mechanical longevity. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for the Mercedes Benz CLS53 AMG lineage in the region, ensuring it holds a stronger position during future resale compared to unconventional colors. As a 2023 model, it benefits from the most refined iteration of the MBUX software and interior materials used before the model's production cycle concluded. This specific unit stands out due to its Korean-spec origin, which often includes a high baseline of equipment that provides a competitive edge over base-model alternatives found locally. It offers a fresh alternative for a buyer who wants a like-new experience without the initial depreciation hit of a showroom purchase.

4MATIC+ vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the 4MATIC+ trim is a transformative experience compared to the standard CLS 450. While the lower trims focus primarily on comfort, this AMG-tuned variant introduces the performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system that can distribute torque variably between the front and rear axles, providing superior grip on sandy or rain-slicked GCC roads. Inside, the differences are immediately apparent with the inclusion of the Burmester surround sound system and the AMG Performance steering wheel, features that local buyers prioritize for both status and enjoyment. This trim also adds significantly more robust cooling systems for the engine and brakes, which is a critical advantage during the extreme 45°C+ summer months in the Middle East. You also gain access to the AMG Dynamic Select modes, allowing the driver to stiffen the suspension and sharpen the throttle response for a weekend drive on the Jebel Hafeet mountain road. It is essentially the bridge between a standard executive sedan and a dedicated sports car, offering a level of interior finishing and raw power that the base models simply cannot match.

CLS53 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The Mercedes Benz CLS53 AMG competes directly with the Audi S7 Sportback and the BMW 840i Gran Coupe, two heavyweights in the premium four-door coupe segment. One of the primary areas where this model leads is the integration of the mild-hybrid EQ Boost system, which provides smoother stop-start transitions in heavy Dubai traffic and an extra jolt of torque for highway overtaking. While rivals offer great performance, the cabin of the CLS53 AMG is widely considered the most luxurious, featuring a dual-screen cockpit layout that remains the gold standard for intuitive tech in the GCC. Furthermore, the 4MATIC+ system provides a more rear-biased, sporty feel than the Audi's Quattro system while maintaining more stability in sudden maneuvers than the rear-wheel-drive biased BMW. For the long-distance traveler, the fuel tank capacity and aerodynamic efficiency of the CLS53 AMG allow for fewer stops during cross-country drives across the UAE or into Oman. It successfully carves out a niche for the buyer who finds the E-Class too conservative and the AMG GT 4-door too aggressive, offering the absolute best of both worlds.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership costs for a high-performance Mercedes Benz in the GCC are predictable when adhering to authorized service schedules. The 3.0L turbocharged engine is remarkably efficient on the highway, achieving fuel economy figures that make it a viable daily commuter between Sharjah and Dubai. Service intervals typically occur every 15,000 km or once a year, and the availability of authorized Mercedes Benz service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait is unparalleled, ensuring parts are always within reach. Regarding resale value, the CLS53 AMG historically retains its price better than many of its rivals because it is a niche enthusiast model with a loyal following. For this Korean-spec vehicle, it is worth noting that while it lacks a local Gargash or EMC warranty, the widespread availability of specialized Mercedes garages in the UAE means maintenance is straightforward and cost-effective. Expect an annual depreciation rate of approximately 12–15%, which is competitive for a premium European performance sedan in this price bracket. Maintaining a full service history will be the key to maximizing your return when it comes time to upgrade.

Performance & Capability

Under the hood lies a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine producing 433 hp, a figure that translates into effortless acceleration and a 0-100 km/h time that rivals dedicated sports cars. The 4MATIC+ system is the star here, providing a sure-footedness that is particularly valuable during the occasional GCC rainstorm or when navigating sandy highway shoulders. With its 9-speed automatic transmission, the car remains in its optimal power band whether you are crawling through Riyadh's city center or cruising at high speeds on the E11. Top speed is electronically governed to 250 km/h, more than enough for any regional legal limit, while the air suspension allows you to raise the vehicle slightly for better clearance over speed bumps or driveway inclines. The mild-hybrid system not only assists with performance but also ensures the electrical systems, like the powerful air conditioning, run efficiently without putting undue strain on the engine. It is a car designed for those who appreciate the engineering required to make a large sedan feel agile and responsive, regardless of the distance or the heat.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of this CLS53 AMG is a masterclass in executive comfort, designed to seat five passengers in a cockpit that feels more like a private jet. Given the GCC's harsh climate, the powerful multi-zone climate control system is a standout feature, capable of cooling the cabin down in minutes even after the car has been parked in the sun. The seats are highly adjustable and provide excellent support for long-distance journeys across the Emirates, often featuring premium leather and contrast stitching characteristic of the AMG line. Noise insulation is top-tier, utilizing acoustic glass to keep the roar of highway traffic and wind noise at bay, creating a serene environment for enjoying the Burmester audio system. Ambient lighting with 64 colors allows you to customize the cabin's mood for night drives through the illuminated streets of Downtown Dubai. Despite its sloping coupe roofline, there is ample legroom for rear passengers, making it a surprisingly capable car for small families or executive transport. The boot space is also deep and wide, easily accommodating large suitcases for trips to the airport or golf bags for a weekend at the club.

Safety

Safety is paramount in the CLS53 AMG, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies designed for the unique challenges of GCC roads. The adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are game-changers for long desert highway stretches, reducing driver fatigue significantly. Blind-spot monitoring is particularly useful on the fast-moving, multi-lane highways of the UAE, where high-speed lane changes require constant vigilance. The car also features autonomous emergency braking and a 360-degree camera system, which makes parking this sizable sedan in tight urban spaces like Dubai Mall effortless. With its 5-star safety pedigree, the vehicle provides peace of mind through a robust airbag system and advanced stability control that manages traction on varied surfaces. These systems work behind the scenes to ensure that the car remains composed even if you are forced to make a sudden maneuver to avoid debris on the road. It offers the high-tech protection suite that GCC buyers have come to expect from the Mercedes Benz brand.

The bottom line

This 2023 CLS53 AMG is the ideal choice for a professional who demands a striking aesthetic and high-performance capabilities without sacrificing daily comfort. As one of the newest examples of this model available on the market, it represents a smart purchase for a buyer looking to secure a modern classic before the shift to fully electric platforms.
