Summary

This 2021 S580 L 4Matic Exclusive represents the flagship of the W223 generation, offering a near-silent V8 powertrain that dominates the luxury sedan segment. With 76,677 km on the clock, this example has already absorbed its steepest initial depreciation, making it a highly rational entry point into current-gen S-Class ownership. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC, known for its ability to hide desert dust and maintain high resale demand in the local market. Compared to its six-cylinder siblings, the S580 provides the effortless torque and mechanical refinement expected of a true executive cruiser. For a GCC buyer, this car offers the perfect balance of prestige and high-speed highway stability for cross-border trips or daily commutes.

This Car vs Other 2021 S580 Ls

At approximately 76,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is slightly above the global average but sits right within the expected range for luxury cruisers in the GCC, where long-distance highway driving is routine. The silver exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the region, offering superior heat reflection and easier maintenance than darker shades. While many American-spec imports may have varied histories, this V8 model remains highly sought after for its superior power delivery compared to the more common S500.

4M EXCLUSIVE vs Lower Trims

The Exclusive trim elevates the cabin experience with Nappa leather upholstery, a 15-speaker Burmester 3D Surround Sound system, and the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment package. It adds essential GCC comfort features such as ventilated and massaging front seats as standard, which are often optional on base Luxury Line models. You also benefit from the 360° camera system and augmented reality navigation, tech features that significantly simplify maneuvering this long-wheelbase sedan in tight urban environments.

S580 L vs Segment Rivals

The S-Class remains the segment benchmark, leading the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 in ride quality thanks to its standard AIRMATIC air suspension. Its 4.0L V8 provides a more relaxed, hushed character than the turbocharged units in rivals, making it better suited for the long, straight highways of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Inside, the 12.8-inch OLED central display and advanced MBUX interface offer a level of digital integration that neither the Lexus LS nor the BMW 750i can currently match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this V8 powertrain averages around 14.4 L/100km in city traffic and 9.4 L/100km on the highway, aided by a 48V mild-hybrid system that smooths out stop-start cycles. While European luxury sedans typically see 12-15% annual depreciation in the GCC, the S580’s status as a flagship ensures it retains value better than smaller executive models. Authorized service centers are widely available across all major GCC cities, ensuring parts and technical expertise are never far away.

Performance & Capability

The 496 hp twin-turbo V8 delivers a massive 700 Nm of torque, propelling this long-wheelbase sedan to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds with absolute composure. The 4Matic all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional grip, which is particularly useful on sandy or rain-slicked tarmac during the rare Gulf storms. With a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h, it is designed for effortless high-speed cruising, maintaining a serene cabin even at the upper limits of legal highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a high-capacity climate control system with dedicated rear vents and a fragrance atomizer. Both front and rear occupants enjoy ventilated seating, ensuring comfort during peak summer months. The long-wheelbase configuration provides class-leading rear legroom, making it equally suitable for family road trips or being chauffeured between business meetings. Acoustic glass and extensive insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet, isolating you from city noise and wind buffeting.

Safety

This S580 L comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including Mercedes-Benz’s advanced PRE-SAFE system and 10 airbags. Key features for the GCC include Active Blind Spot Assist for multi-lane highway safety and Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Pilot, which reduces driver fatigue on long desert stretches. The 360° surround-view camera is a standard inclusion that provides a birds-eye view for stress-free parking of this nearly 5.3-meter-long vehicle.

The bottom line

This S580 L is the ideal choice for the executive buyer who prioritizes the traditional V8 S-Class experience over the newer six-cylinder alternatives. It offers a high-spec interior and a resilient resale color, representing a significant saving over a new model while still delivering the full current-generation luxury experience.
