Summary

This silver MG 5 is an ideal choice for the budget-conscious commuter in the UAE, offering a modern sedan profile with impressive fuel efficiency. As a 2023 model, it remains mechanically current and carries the high-demand silver exterior, which is favored in the GCC for its heat-reflective properties and strong resale appeal. The 1.5L powertrain is optimized for city agility and steady highway cruising, providing a low-cost entry point into a modern vehicle with GCC-ready cooling systems. For a buyer looking to balance mileage and age, this listing offers a well-proportioned sedan that out-specs many older, high-depreciation rivals at a similar price point. It represents a practical and durable solution for daily driving between the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2023 MG 5s

With 107,345 km on the odometer, this car has been used as a dedicated highway commuter, typical for vehicles navigating long distances like the Dubai to Abu Dhabi route. While the mileage is higher than the GCC yearly average, it ensures the engine has consistently operated at peak temperatures, often preferable to high-stress city idling. The silver finish provides a distinct resale advantage in the local market, as it hides dust well and maintains exterior condition better under the intense sun.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Standard trim provides the essential foundation for GCC driving, including disc brakes on all four wheels for superior stopping power in high-speed highway traffic. It comes equipped with critical safety features like Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC) that are often missing from entry-level sedans in this price bracket. You also benefit from power-adjustable mirrors and a multi-function steering wheel that keeps driver focus on the road.

MG 5 vs Segment Rivals

The MG 5 stands out against rivals like the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny by offering a larger 401-litre boot and a more substantial on-road presence. Its naturally aspirated 1.5L engine is paired with a CVT designed for maximum efficiency, achieving a combined fuel rating that competes directly with the class leaders. The inclusion of electronic stability controls as standard gives it a safety edge over many base-model competitors in the compact segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating costs for the MG 5 are exceptionally low, with fuel consumption rated at approximately 5.5 L/100km on a combined cycle. MG has a rapidly growing authorized service network across the UAE and the wider GCC, with major service centers in all seven Emirates ensuring easy parts availability. While Chinese brands typically depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the MG 5 has stabilized as a popular choice for fleet and secondary market buyers, retaining good value at the three-year mark. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km to ensure the cooling system and air filters handle the dusty, high-temperature environment.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder engine producing 118 HP, the MG 5 is tuned for smooth, predictable power delivery in urban traffic. It achieves a top speed of 180 km/h, making it perfectly capable of handling the UAE's fast-moving 140 km/h highway zones with confidence. The front-wheel-drive layout and MacPherson strut front suspension provide a comfortable ride quality that absorbs road imperfections well during long cross-country drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with practicality in mind, featuring durable fabric upholstery and manual seat adjustments suited for the local climate. The air conditioning system is specifically calibrated for Middle Eastern heat, ensuring rapid cabin cooling even during peak summer months. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom for the compact segment, and the folding rear seats allow for flexible cargo management for weekend grocery runs or airport trips.

Safety

Safety is a priority in this trim, featuring dual front airbags and a suite of active stability systems including ABS, EBD, and Brake Assist. These systems are vital for maintaining control during sudden stops on sandy or rain-slicked roads. The addition of ISOFIX child seat anchors and speed-sensitive door locking makes it a secure choice for small families or professional drivers.

The bottom line

This MG 5 is a smart, high-value opportunity for a professional commuter who needs a late-model, fuel-efficient sedan that won't break the bank at the pump or the service center.
