Summary

This 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS is a standout choice in the family SUV market, offering a perfect balance of low mileage and exceptional value. At just 3 years old with under 20,000 km, it presents as a near-new vehicle, and its crisp white exterior remains the most sought-after color for resale strength across the GCC. While rivals like the Toyota Fortuner often command a steep premium, this GLS trim delivers a more refined interior and smoother ride for a more accessible price point. The 3.0L V6 is a bulletproof choice for the region, known for its longevity and ability to handle both the intense summer heat and long-distance highway hauls between cities like Dubai and Muscat. For a buyer seeking a capable seven-seater that is as reliable as it is comfortable, this is one of the smartest opportunities currently available on the market.

This Car vs Other 2023 Montero Sports

With only 19,796 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. While many 3-year-old SUVs in the region are nearing their 60,000 km service, this example is effectively in its first phase of life. The white exterior is a massive advantage here; not only does it reflect the harsh desert sun to keep the cabin cooler, but it also ensures the highest possible demand and price when it eventually comes time to sell.

GLS vs Lower Trims

The GLS trim represents a significant luxury upgrade over the base GLX, most notably adding premium leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Tech-focused buyers in the GCC will appreciate the 8-inch digital instrument cluster and integrated Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, features often missing in lower specifications. It also upgrades the exterior with projector LED headlights and a more sophisticated illuminated front grille, giving it a much more executive presence on the road.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Fortuner, the Montero Sport offers a smoother 8-speed automatic transmission that provides a more relaxed highway cruising experience. Its cabin is generally considered quieter and better insulated, a critical factor for family comfort during the peak of the GCC summer. Additionally, the Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD system is more versatile than the part-time systems found in most rivals, allowing for high-speed four-wheel-drive usage on slippery, rain-slicked tarmac or gravel tracks.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L V6 is highly regarded for its mechanical simplicity and durability, with a massive authorised service network spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are always affordable and available. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 10.3 L/100km, which is competitive for a ladder-frame SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. While Toyota typically leads in raw percentage retention, the Montero Sport holds its value exceptionally well at the 3-year mark, especially in high-spec GLS trims with such low mileage.

Performance & Capability

The 216 hp V6 engine is paired with a sophisticated 8-speed automatic that makes highway overtaking effortless, even with a full load of seven passengers. With 218 mm of ground clearance, it is a genuine weekend warrior capable of handling moderate desert dunes and rocky wadi floors with ease. The selectable 4WD system allows you to toggle between fuel-saving rear-wheel drive for city commutes and locked four-wheel drive for maximum traction when the pavement ends.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is highly flexible, featuring a tumble-fold second row that makes accessing the rear much easier for families. Crucially for the Middle East, the GLS features a powerful dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to ensure every passenger stays cool during the midday heat. The leather seats and soft-touch materials throughout the cabin provide a more upscale environment than many other workhorse SUVs in this segment.

Safety

This GLS trim is well-equipped for GCC road conditions, featuring Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC) which is vital for maintaining grip on sandy surfaces. It includes a comprehensive airbag system and a 360-degree camera for stress-free parking in tight urban spaces. Standard safety highlights also include Hill Start Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, providing confidence during steep mountain climbs or sudden highway stops.

The bottom line

This is a rare chance to secure a top-tier Japanese SUV that offers the refinement of a premium vehicle with the low mileage and condition of a new one. It is the ideal choice for a growing family that needs a reliable, GCC-ready 4x4 without the inflated price tag of its competitors.
