Summary

This 2023 Hiace GL represents a strategic purchase for anyone requiring high-capacity transport with the legendary reliability that defines the GCC landscape. With only 28,863 km on the clock, this 3-year-old bus is barely broken in compared to the high-mileage commercial units typically found on the market. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in the region, offering maximum heat reflection during peak summer months. As a GL trim, it provides a more refined passenger experience than the base cargo variants, making it ideal for shuttle services or large family outings. For a GCC buyer, the availability of parts and expert service from Dubai to Muscat ensures absolute mechanical peace of mind.

This Car vs Other 2023 Toyota Hiaces

While typical commercial vehicles in the GCC cover 30,000 km to 50,000 km annually, this Hiace has averaged less than 10,000 km per year. This remarkably low mileage makes it a standout entry in the used market, offering significantly more mechanical longevity than its peers. The white paintwork further enhances its appeal, as it is the most sought-after color for maintaining high resale value in the Emirates.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim bridges the gap between a workhorse and a passenger van by adding body-colored bumpers and chrome grille accents that are absent on the utilitarian DX models. Inside, the GL features upgraded fabric seating with better bolsters and dedicated rear air conditioning vents that are essential for passenger comfort during the GCC summer. It also benefits from a 16-inch wheel setup and more refined interior insulation compared to the standard cargo-focused variants.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Urvan or Hyundai Staria, the Hiace leads in the GCC primarily through its unparalleled service network and parts availability in every corner of the region. The 3.5L V6 engine provides a smoother power delivery for highway cruising than the smaller naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines found in many competitors. Its ladder-frame construction also ensures it handles the heavy payloads and long inter-city drives between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh with greater long-term durability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 petrol engine typically sees real-world consumption of 12.0L to 13.0L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, providing consistent power for long highway hauls. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized Toyota centers, which are the most accessible network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Historically, the Hiace maintains approximately 80-85% of its value after three years, making it one of the lowest-depreciating assets in the commercial sector.

Performance & Capability

Producing 277 hp and 351 Nm of torque, the 7GR-FKS V6 engine allows for confident highway overtaking even when the 9+ seats are fully occupied. The 6-speed manual transmission gives the driver direct control over power delivery, which is particularly useful when navigating inclines or carrying heavy cargo. Rear-wheel drive and a robust suspension setup ensure stability and traction across the varied road surfaces found throughout the GCC.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for 9+ passengers, featuring a dual-zone air conditioning system with a powerful rear cooling setup to combat 45°C+ summer temperatures. On long drives, passengers benefit from individual headrests and ergonomic seating designed for group transit. The high-roof design provides ample headroom, creating a sense of space that is vital for comfortable long-distance travel across the Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GL trim includes dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to help maintain traction on gravel or sand-covered road shoulders. It also features Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist Control, providing an extra layer of security for drivers managing large passenger loads in city traffic or on highway routes.

The bottom line

For a business owner or large family seeking a nearly-new vehicle with the lowest possible ownership risk in the GCC, this low-mileage 3.5L Hiace GL is the definitive choice.
