Summary

This 2024 Hiace DLS is the definitive choice for businesses and individuals requiring a versatile 9-seater passenger bus. With its manual transmission and robust 2.5-litre diesel engine, it offers the mechanical simplicity and fuel economy essential for high-frequency transport. In the GCC market, white is the most sought-after color, ensuring this vehicle maintains its resale value better than almost any other in its class. The Japanese regional specification provides a proven track record for reliability in extreme temperatures. Choosing this Hiace means securing a workhorse that is as famous for its durability as it is for its ease of maintenance across the region.

This Car vs Other 2024 Hiaces

While many Hiace units in the GCC are pushed to extreme distances, this 2024 model represents a fresh opportunity for long-term ownership. Its white exterior is not just a practical choice for the heat but a critical factor in securing the highest possible resale price later. Compared to higher-roof variants, this standard roof version offers better accessibility to underground parking and tighter urban streets.

DLS - STANDARD ROOF vs Lower Trims

The DLS trim upgrades the experience with essential passenger comforts that matter during long UAE commutes. It features dedicated rear cooling vents and improved interior upholstery compared to the basic panel van variants. The 9-seater configuration balances occupant space with entry-exit efficiency, making it far more practical for shuttle services than the base utility trims.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai H1 primarily through its unmatched parts availability and service footprint across the GCC. Its body-on-frame construction provides a level of structural longevity that monocoque competitors often struggle to match in heavy commercial use. While others might offer more tech, the Hiace focuses on minimizing downtime, which is the most critical metric for any GCC fleet operator.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs for the 2.5L diesel are remarkably low, with real-world fuel consumption averaging between 8.5L and 9.5L per 100km depending on the load. Toyota's authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring maintenance is never a logistical hurdle. Historically, the Hiace holds approximately 85-90% of its value after the first year, making it one of the safest automotive investments in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 136 hp diesel engine is tuned for torque rather than top speed, providing the necessary grunt to move 9+ passengers effortlessly through city traffic. The manual transmission offers the driver complete control over gear selection, which is particularly useful when navigating inclines or heavily loaded trips between Emirates. A 70-litre fuel tank ensures you can complete long-distance runs from Dubai to Muscat with minimal refueling stops.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for functional comfort, featuring a high-output air conditioning system specifically engineered to handle the 45°C+ GCC summers. The 9-seater layout provides sufficient legroom for all rows, with wide sliding doors that allow for quick passenger turnaround. Cabin insulation has been improved in this generation to reduce road and engine noise during high-speed highway cruising.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems including ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution to maintain stability when fully loaded. The Hiace features multiple SRS airbags and a reinforced cabin structure designed to protect occupants. Its rear-wheel-drive layout provides predictable handling and traction on the sand-dusted road surfaces common in the region.

The bottom line

This 2024 Hiace is the ideal acquisition for a transport business or a large family looking for the most reliable passenger bus on the market. It represents a rare chance to own a nearly new, white Japanese-spec diesel Hiace with the strongest resale credentials in the Middle East.
