Summary

This 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR offers a rare combination of modern LC300 luxury and the bulletproof mechanical simplicity of the 4.0L V6 engine. While most higher trims move to complex turbocharging, this GCC-spec VXR retains the tried-and-tested naturally aspirated powertrain that local workshops know best. The black exterior remains the gold standard for resale value in the UAE, especially when paired with the premium VXR chrome accents. With just over 90,000 km, this vehicle has been broken in on the UAE’s long highways and represents a massive saving over a new showroom model. It is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants flagship features like ventilated seats and premium audio without sacrificing long-term durability.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

At 90,662 km, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with typical GCC annual use for a primary family SUV, where long-distance travel between emirates is standard. While higher than a weekend-only car, this figure reflects a vehicle that has been regularly maintained at shorter intervals, which is crucial for the 4.0L engine. The black exterior is one of the top two resale colors in the region, ensuring you maintain a strong equity position when it comes time to trade.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim significantly elevates the cabin experience over the GXR by adding a 14-speaker JBL premium sound system and a 12.3-inch high-resolution multimedia display. Unlike lower trims, you benefit from four-zone climate control and front-row ventilated seats, which are essential for GCC summers. Additionally, the VXR includes a factory refrigerator in the center console and a more advanced safety suite including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with its 110-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for long-distance desert trips or cross-border drives. Its body-on-frame GA-F platform offers a level of torsional rigidity that monocoque rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe cannot match for serious off-road use. The Land Cruiser also benefits from the widest authorized service network in the GCC, ensuring parts availability from Salalah to Kuwait City.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is widely regarded as one of the most cost-effective engines to run in the GCC due to its mechanical simplicity and ability to run efficiently on standard 95-octane fuel. Maintenance is predictable, with standard 10,000 km service intervals available at any Toyota center across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Historically, the Land Cruiser holds approximately 80-85% of its value over three years in the GCC market, making it one of the safest automotive investments in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 produces 271 hp and 385 Nm of torque, delivered through a reliable 6-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth, low-end grunt in the sand. With a 235 mm ground clearance and a 32-degree approach angle, it is purpose-built for weekend dune bashing and gravel tracks. The standard Crawl Control system and Multi-Terrain Select allow the driver to navigate difficult terrain with automated throttle and brake management, a feature highly prized by local off-roaders.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the VXR features premium leather seating for seven, with a power-folding third row for flexible cargo space. The cabin is specifically insulated against high-ambient heat, supported by a powerful multi-zone A/C system with dedicated rear vents that maintain comfortable temperatures even in 45°C+ weather. Rear-seat passengers also benefit from an integrated entertainment system, making it an excellent choice for family road trips.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, including Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert with steering vibration, and Auto High Beam. The VXR also features a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor which is invaluable for parking this large SUV in tight urban spaces. A total of 10 airbags come standard, providing maximum protection for all three rows of passengers.

The bottom line

For the buyer who values long-term reliability over turbocharged complexity, this GCC-spec VXR is the perfect flagship SUV that will likely outlast any rival on the market.
