Summary

This 2024 BMW M240i xDrive offers a near-new performance experience with a mileage profile that suggests careful use for its two years on UAE roads. Finished in Black, a top-tier choice for retaining value in the GCC used market, this coupe stands out by offering the legendary B58 straight-six engine in a compact, agile frame. Unlike its four-cylinder siblings, the xDrive system here is rear-biased, providing the classic BMW driving feel with the added security needed for high-speed highway stability. For a GCC buyer, this represents the sweet spot of the 2 Series range, delivering M-car performance with daily-driver comfort and a robust service network across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2024 M240is

With 58,581 km over two years, this vehicle sits slightly above the regional average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, likely reflecting consistent highway use between emirates. This mileage often indicates a car that has been maintained through regular service cycles rather than sitting idle in the heat. The Black exterior is highly sought after in the GCC, ensuring it remains a liquid asset with strong resale potential compared to niche colors.

XDRIVE vs Lower Trims

The xDrive trim is a significant mechanical leap over the 220i, replacing the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with the 374 hp 3.0-liter inline-six. Beyond the power, this trim adds essential GCC spec upgrades including the M Sport Differential for superior cornering traction and Adaptive M Suspension, which allows for a softer ride during city commutes in Dubai or Riyadh. You also gain a standard sunroof, upgraded M Sport brakes, and proximity keyless entry that are often optional on lower variants.

M240i vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Audi S3 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 utilize smaller 2.0-liter engines, the BMW leads with its larger 3.0-liter displacement and superior 50:50 weight distribution. Its rear-biased AWD system offers a more engaging driving dynamic on mountain passes like Jebel Jais compared to the front-biased systems of its competitors. Additionally, the G42 chassis provides a more substantial, 'big car' feel and better high-speed insulation for long-distance desert cruises.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 8.0 L/100km combined, though GCC stop-start traffic in peak summer may see higher figures. BMW’s authorized service network is extensive across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with service intervals typically every 12,000 to 15,000 km. While European performance coupes depreciate faster than Japanese luxury sedans, the M240i specifically holds a premium in the used market due to the high desirability of the B58 engine, typically retaining roughly 60-70% of its value after three years in the region.

Performance & Capability

The headline 0–100 km/h sprint of 4.3 seconds is delivered with remarkable consistency thanks to the launch control and xDrive traction. The 500 Nm of torque provides effortless overtaking power on the E11 highway, even when temperatures soar. With a manufacturer-limited top speed of 250 km/h, it is perfectly suited for the region's fast-moving traffic, while the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission ensures the engine stays in its power band during spirited drives.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, you will find a driver-focused digital cockpit featuring the latest iDrive system and premium M Sport seats that provide excellent support for long-distance travel. The dual-zone climate control is engineered to handle extreme summer heat, quickly cooling the cabin even after hours in the sun. Despite its compact coupe dimensions, the interior uses high-grade materials shared with the 4 Series, ensuring a refined environment free from road noise during high-speed cruising.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a full suite of ADAS features including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, which is particularly vital for navigating multi-lane highway traffic in the UAE. The xDrive system provides mechanical safety by constantly monitoring grip levels, while standard front and rear parking sensors coupled with a high-resolution camera system make urban parking effortless.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who needs a modern, tech-forward daily driver that can outperform dedicated sports cars, this 2024 xDrive model in a high-resale color is a calculated and exciting investment.
