Summary

This 2024 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a prime example of the updated G05 generation, offering a perfect balance of performance and efficiency with its 48V mild-hybrid system. With mileage significantly below the GCC annual average for a vehicle of this age, it represents a well-preserved opportunity for the next owner. The Alpine White exterior remains the most sought-after color for resale in the region, providing excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention. As the M Sport trim, it gains the aggressive styling and handling upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize, making it a standout choice in the luxury SUV segment. For a buyer seeking a modern, high-tech executive cruiser that handles Dubai commutes and inter-emirate highway runs with equal poise, this is a top-tier contender.

This Car vs Other 2024 X5s

With just 38,735 km on the odometer, this X5 has been driven significantly less than the typical 25,000 km per year average seen in the GCC market. Its white exterior is a strategic choice for the local climate, known for holding its value better than darker shades at resale. This specific unit represents the facelifted LCI model, featuring the newer curved display and updated hybrid powertrain not found on pre-2024 models.

XDRIVE40i M SPORT vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim adds a significant layer of desirability over the base xLine, including the aerodynamic body kit, M-specific wheels, and the M leather steering wheel. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the upgraded M Sport braking system and the inclusion of high-level features like the 360-degree camera and adaptive LED headlights which are often optional on lower specifications. The mild-hybrid 40i engine provides a smoother stop-start experience in heavy Riyadh or Dubai traffic compared to non-electrified versions.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 leads competitors like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving dynamics, offering a more engaging steering feel and sharper throttle response. Its 83-litre fuel tank is ideal for long-distance cruising across the UAE or into Oman, providing a significant range advantage over smaller-tank rivals. The BMW iDrive system continues to be the benchmark for cabin technology, outperforming the competition in ease of use while driving at highway speeds.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid 40i sits around 9.4 L/100km, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size in GCC stop-start traffic. BMW's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always within reach. The X5 xDrive40i M Sport traditionally maintains strong value, typically depreciating at a lower rate than its V8-powered counterparts due to its blend of performance and sensible running costs.

Performance & Capability

The 375 hp output allows for an effortless 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving UAE motorways. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability during sudden seasonal rain or when navigating gravel tracks leading to desert retreats. Multiple drive modes allow the vehicle to transform from a quiet city commuter to a sharp-handling performance SUV at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system and high-quality insulation that keeps wind noise at bay during highway drives. The updated curved digital cockpit provides a wide-screen interface for navigation and media, while the M Sport seats offer excellent support for long-distance travel. Practicality remains high with a generous 655-litre boot that easily accommodates golf clubs or family luggage for weekend getaways.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes an advanced ADAS suite with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and active blind-spot monitoring, which is crucial for navigating multi-lane GCC highways. The 360-degree surround-view camera makes parking in tight urban spaces effortless, while the adaptive cruise control reduces fatigue on long desert stretches. The vehicle's high-strength steel construction and comprehensive airbag system contribute to its status as one of the safest luxury SUVs in its class.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, high-spec BMW X5 that hits the 'sweet spot' for the GCC market: the right color, the most desirable trim, and the perfect balance of inline-six performance and hybrid efficiency.
