Summary

This 2024 model represents the absolute peak of the X5 lineup, featuring the revised S68 V8 engine with mild-hybrid assistance for lightning-fast responses. In the GCC, its white exterior is the most coveted for heat reflection and strong resale, while the low mileage ensures it remains well within its prime mechanical window. It bridges the gap between a family SUV and a supercar, outclassing most dedicated sports cars while maintaining the utility needed for daily Dubai or Riyadh life. For the performance-minded buyer, this GCC-spec example offers the peace of mind that comes with local cooling systems and authorized service history.

This Car vs Other 2024 X5s

With just under 29,000 km, this vehicle has been driven slightly more than the typical 20,000 km annual average for the UAE, yet it remains significantly fresher than most high-performance SUVs in the region that see heavy cross-border highway use. Its white paint is the highest-demand color in the GCC used market, ensuring faster liquidity and better value retention compared to darker tones. Being a 2024 model, it benefits from the latest LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) updates, including the curved digital cockpit and sharper exterior styling.

M Competition vs Lower Trims

Moving up to the M Competition from the M60i adds nearly 100 horsepower and replaces standard components with track-hardened hardware like 6-piston M Compound brakes and the M xDrive rear-biased system. GCC buyers will appreciate the standard M-specific cooling system, designed to keep the twin-turbo V8 at optimal temperatures even in 45°C summer heat. Inside, this trim adds high-grade Merino leather and the 16-speaker Harman Kardon system as standard, features that are often optional on lower models.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S or the Audi RS Q8, the X5 M Competition is often noted for having the most aggressive chassis tuning and driver-focused steering. Its 650-litre boot space leads many rivals in practical storage, making it a more viable family vehicle for long road trips across the Emirates. The integration of BMW’s 48V mild-hybrid system also provides a smoother stop-start experience in heavy traffic compared to older powertrains in the segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 13.1 L/100km on a combined cycle, though GCC highway cruising can see improved efficiency while stop-start city traffic will increase demand for RON 98 fuel. Service intervals are managed by BMW’s Condition-Based Service (CBS) system, generally occurring every 12,000 to 15,000 km, with an extensive network of authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While high-performance European SUVs face steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the M Competition trim holds a dedicated enthusiast following in the GCC, helping it retain value better than standard luxury trims.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the 3.9-second 0–100 km/h sprint, enabled by a sophisticated launch control system and the 750 Nm of torque delivered to all four wheels. With the optional M Driver’s Package, the top speed is electronically raised to 285 km/h, providing effortless overtaking power on long stretches of the E11 or E311. Despite its track-day DNA, the 213 mm ground clearance allows for confident driving over gravel paths or rougher terrain during weekend escapes to the mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of tech, featuring the BMW Curved Display with a 14.9-inch touchscreen that manages the GCC-optimized four-zone climate control. Standard ventilated front seats are a critical luxury in the region, ensuring driver comfort during peak summer months, while the acoustic glazing keeps the cabin remarkably quiet at highway speeds. The 5-seat layout offers generous legroom for all passengers, supported by rear cooling vents to ensure the entire family stays comfortable on long drives.

Safety

Safety is managed by a full suite of ADAS features including Frontal Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, which is particularly useful for the fast-paced lane changes common on major GCC highways. The 360-degree Parking Assistant Plus makes maneuvering this large SUV into tight city parking spaces effortless. Additionally, the Active Protection system automatically prepares the cabin by tensioning belts and closing windows if a collision is detected.

The bottom line

This is the ultimate choice for a buyer who wants a track-ready engine in a practical, GCC-spec luxury wrapper. It represents a smart buy for those seeking the updated 2024 technology in the most resale-stable color available.
