Summary

This Geely Coolray GL represents a modern and efficient choice for those navigating the UAE's fast-paced urban environments. With mileage slightly above average for a 2024 model, it demonstrates reliable daily performance on GCC roads, while the Grey exterior remains one of the most practical and stable colors for long-term resale in this market. As a subcompact SUV, it offers a punchier turbocharged drive than many of its naturally aspirated rivals, making it an ideal companion for highway commutes between emirates. This specific listing is a strong buy for value-conscious drivers who want contemporary tech and Euro-influenced styling without the premium price tag of established Japanese brands.

This Car vs Other 2024 Coolrays

With 64,600 km, this vehicle has been driven more frequently than the typical 25,000 km annual average for the GCC, suggesting consistent highway use which often keeps the powertrain at optimal operating temperatures. The Grey paint is a strategic choice for the region, offering better heat management than black and a higher resale demand than louder colors. Its mechanical condition is well-suited for the stop-start traffic of Dubai and Riyadh, benefiting from a responsive dual-clutch transmission.

GL vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim in the UAE market, the GL provides the essential turbocharged performance found across the range, ensuring no compromise on power compared to the GF. It includes core GCC essentials like LED matrix headlamps for night-time visibility and a high-definition touchscreen that manages cabin tech. While it skips the complex ADAS and 540-degree cameras of higher trims, it offers a simpler, more direct ownership experience with fewer electronic sensors to maintain.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta in straight-line performance, utilizing a BMA platform shared with Volvo technology to deliver superior handling. Its 1.5-liter turbo engine provides significantly more torque for highway overtaking than the Seltos' base engine, while the cabin's digital interface feels a generation ahead of standard subcompact crossovers. It serves as a middle ground for those wanting more personality than a Toyota Raize without the higher entry cost of a Mazda CX-30.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is a standout, averaging 5.8 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC summer city driving with high AC usage will see figures closer to 7.5 L/100km. Geely has established an extensive service network via AGMC in the UAE and major distributors across Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts availability and professional maintenance. While Chinese brands typically see higher initial depreciation than Toyota, the Coolray's popularity in the UAE used market helps it retain value better than many other emerging brands in its segment.

Performance & Capability

A verified 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds makes this one of the quickest vehicles in the subcompact class, providing confidence during fast merges on the E11 or E311. The 177 hp output is managed by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission designed to handle the high heat of the Gulf without the overheating issues common in dry-clutch setups. With selectable drive modes, the steering weights up in Sport mode, offering stability during long-distance drives across the desert highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is designed with a sporty, driver-centric layout featuring high-quality materials that resist the intense UV exposure of the region. Powerful GCC-spec air conditioning ensures the interior cools down rapidly even after being parked in direct sunlight, supported by rear ventilation for passenger comfort. Noise insulation is competitive for its class, providing a quiet environment for family road trips between emirates or weekend errands in the city.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a high-strength steel cage and multiple airbags providing peace of mind for family use. Standard electronic aids include Stability Control, Traction Control, and Hill Start Assist, which are particularly useful when navigating sandy shoulders or steep multi-story parking ramps in the city. The GL trim provides a solid baseline of safety that meets international standards, ensuring reliable protection on high-speed GCC highways.

The bottom line

For the pragmatist who values performance and modern aesthetics, this 2024 Coolray GL offers a high-tech driving experience at a fraction of the cost of its rivals. It is a proven, GCC-ready crossover that is ready for immediate daily duty across the region.
