Summary

This 2024 Monjaro GK offers a sophisticated driving experience built on the highly regarded CMA architecture, sharing engineering DNA with European luxury brands. Finished in black, a high-demand choice for resale in the GCC, this SUV balances a premium cabin with the practical all-wheel-drive capability required for weekend trips. Even in this entry-level trim, the feature set is remarkably high, including a panoramic sunroof and an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth highway cruising. For a buyer in the UAE, it represents a modern alternative to established rivals, offering flagship tech and refinement at a more accessible price point. The Four Wheel Drive system ensures steady traction, whether you're navigating summer rain or light gravel paths.

This Car vs Other 2024 Monjaros

With approximately 29,000 km on the clock, this vehicle sits at a very healthy mileage for a one-year-old car in the GCC, where the average annual usage often hits 25,000 km. The black exterior is a primary resale asset in the local market, ensuring it remains highly liquid compared to niche colors. It represents a well-preserved example that has likely spent most of its time on the UAE's high-quality highway network rather than intensive off-road use.

GK vs Lower Trims

The GK serves as the standard entry point for the Monjaro range, yet it avoids the 'base model' feel by including features that GCC buyers prioritize, such as the panoramic sunroof and 19-inch alloy wheels. While the higher GF trims add additional screens and cooled seats, the GK retains the same powerful 235 hp turbocharged engine and 8-speed Aisin gearbox, ensuring you get the full mechanical performance of the flagship model without the top-tier price premium.

Monjaro vs Segment Rivals

The Monjaro is frequently cross-shopped against the Toyota Highlander and MG RX8, where it leads with a more European-inspired chassis feel and superior cabin materials. Its turbocharged 2.0L engine provides more immediate torque for highway overtaking than naturally aspirated rivals in this class. Additionally, the interior tech—anchored by large high-definition displays—surpasses the standard offerings of many established Japanese competitors in the mid-size SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Geely has established an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and the wider GCC, ensuring that parts and maintenance are easily accessible. The 2.0T engine is designed to run efficiently on 95-octane fuel, with a real-world combined consumption of approximately 8.5 L/100km, though this will vary in stop-start Dubai traffic. Value retention for the Monjaro has proven strong in the regional market, typically retaining about 70% of its value after three years, making it a competitive investment compared to other new-to-market brands.

Performance & Capability

The 0–100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds is highly impressive for a mid-size SUV, providing plenty of confidence for merging onto fast-moving highways like the E11. Its Four Wheel Drive system features selectable terrain modes including Snow and Sport, which translate well to the sandy shoulders and varying road textures found across the Emirates. The 210 mm ground clearance ensures you can navigate high curbs and gravel roads comfortably during family outings or weekend escapes.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the GCC climate in mind, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to keep all passengers cool during summer peaks. While this specific trim is listed with four seats, the spacious rear bench easily accommodates three adults, offering class-leading legroom that is a major draw for families. Acoustic glass and high-quality PVC upholstery ensure the interior remains a quiet, premium environment even at high cruising speeds on the highway.

Safety

Safety is a core strength of this trim, featuring a suite of advanced driver assistance systems including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assistance, which are invaluable for long desert highway drives. The car is equipped with six airbags as standard, alongside stability control and hill start assist to manage traction on loose surfaces. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors with a high-definition rear camera makes maneuvering this sizeable SUV simple in tight urban parking structures.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking European levels of refinement and performance without the premium price tag, this low-mileage 2024 Monjaro in black is one of the most logical opportunities in the current used market.
