Summary

This 2-year-old Haval Jolion PLUS is a standout choice in the compact SUV segment, offering a feature-to-price ratio that established rivals struggle to match. With just over 61,000 km, its mileage sits right at the expected average for a GCC-driven vehicle, suggesting it has spent much of its life on the UAE’s well-maintained highway network. The crisp white exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the region, providing excellent heat reflection and ensuring strong value retention when it is time to upgrade. As a PLUS trim, it bridges the gap between the base model and the flagship, providing the tech-heavy cabin experience GCC buyers prioritize without the top-spec price tag. For the daily commuter or small family, this Jolion represents a modern, safety-conscious SUV that is perfectly adapted to the demands of local traffic and summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2024 Jolions

With 61,148 km on the odometer over 2 years, this Jolion has been used exactly as intended for a GCC commuter, averaging roughly 30,000 km per year. While slightly above the global average, this is considered standard for the region where inter-emirate travel is routine. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the UAE, as it holds its value better than darker shades and keeps the cabin noticeably cooler during peak summer months.

PLUS vs Lower Trims

The PLUS trim is a significant step up from the base 'Basic' or 'Premium' variants, most notably adding the 360-degree panoramic camera system which is essential for navigating tight mall parking in Dubai or Riyadh. Inside, it swaps the smaller screen for a high-definition 12.3-inch touchscreen and adds synthetic leather upholstery that is far easier to maintain in a dusty environment than the standard cloth. Additional benefits include a wireless charging pad and a more comprehensive ADAS safety suite that provides a more relaxed highway driving experience.

Jolion vs Segment Rivals

The Jolion often leads the MG ZS and Geely Coolray in terms of rear legroom, offering a flat floor that makes it a more genuine 5-seater for family use. Its 1.5L turbocharged engine is tuned for smooth delivery rather than aggressive sprints, making it more comfortable in heavy city traffic than some of its more high-strung competitors. Furthermore, the sheer size of the infotainment display in the PLUS trim makes the cabins of more expensive rivals like the Kia Seltos feel dated by comparison.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.5L turbo typically sits around 6.7 to 7.5 L/100km on the highway, though this can rise in the stop-start traffic of Dubai or during the summer when the AC is under maximum load. Haval has established a solid service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. While Chinese brands generally see higher initial depreciation than Japanese mainstays, the Jolion’s popularity in the used market has stabilized its resale value significantly at the 3-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 147 hp turbocharged engine provides ample power for overtaking on the E11, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission designed for efficiency. While it is a front-wheel-drive crossover intended for the pavement, its 170mm ground clearance is more than enough for gravel tracks and the occasional weekend trip to a farm or beach park. Multiple drive modes, including a dedicated 'Snow' mode that doubles as a 'Sand' setting for loose surfaces, help manage traction in various GCC road conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to combat the local climate, featuring a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool. The PLUS trim's synthetic leather seats are perforated for better breathability, and the large panoramic windows are treated to reduce UV heat soak. Road noise insulation is impressive for this price point, providing a quiet sanctuary for long desert drives between cities.

Safety

Safety is a core strength of this trim, featuring a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist, which are invaluable for the long, straight highways of the GCC. The 360-degree camera provides a bird's-eye view to avoid obstacles, while six airbags and a 5-star ANCAP safety rating provide peace of mind for family buyers. It also includes Blind Spot Detection, a critical feature for the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic common in major GCC cities.

The bottom line

This Jolion PLUS is the ideal match for a tech-savvy buyer who wants a modern, high-spec SUV experience without the premium price of a new car. It offers the right color, the right trim, and a verified GCC history, making it a low-risk entry into one of the region's most popular compact crossovers.
