Summary

This 2-year-old Hyundai Elantra SMART offers an ideal entry into the modern sedan market with its 2024 facelift design and robust GCC specifications. With 82,000 km, its mileage reflects a typical highway-focused life common in the region, ensuring the 1.6L engine has been kept at optimal operating temperatures. The crisp White exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, providing excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention. This trim hits the sweet spot for daily commuters, balancing essential tech like a rearview camera with the legendary reliability of Hyundai’s naturally aspirated powertrain. In a market where maintenance costs matter, the Elantra remains a top contender due to its simple mechanical layout and widely available parts.

This Car vs Other 2024 Elantras

While 82,000 km is slightly above the regional average for a 2-year-old car, it aligns with the high-utilization profile of reliable commuter sedans in the UAE and KSA. The White exterior gives this specific listing a distinct edge at resale, as it is the highest-demand color in the GCC used market. Choosing a 2024 model ensures you benefit from the sharp 'shark-nose' facelift and upgraded interior materials not found in earlier generations.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim is a significant step up from the base 'Fleet' model, adding the high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also introduces critical convenience features for the region, including a wireless smartphone charger and dedicated rear air conditioning vents to keep passengers cool during summer. Safety is further bolstered with the inclusion of a rearview camera and front/rear parking sensors as standard.

Elantra vs Segment Rivals

Against the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra, the Elantra leads with a more daring, modern interior design and superior wireless connectivity options. The 1.6L powertrain is specifically tuned for efficiency in GCC stop-start traffic while maintaining a larger 50-litre fuel tank for long-distance cruising between cities. Its cabin ergonomics feel a generation ahead of more conservative rivals, offering better legroom for rear passengers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6L Gamma engine is famous for its low running costs, achieving a verified 6.8 L/100km on a combined cycle, making it highly economical for inter-emirate travel. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and Hyundai boasts one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. This model maintains strong value retention, typically depreciating at a slower rate of 8-10% annually compared to European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 125 hp 1.6-liter engine is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a top speed of 195 km/h. It is engineered for reliability in extreme heat, with a cooling system designed to handle high-speed highway runs even when ambient temperatures exceed 45 degrees Celsius. The front-wheel-drive setup and light steering make it exceptionally easy to navigate through dense city traffic and tight parking structures.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Elantra features a spacious 5-seat layout with durable fabric upholstery designed to withstand the GCC climate better than dark leathers. The air conditioning system is remarkably powerful, supported by rear vents that ensure rapid cabin cooling after the car has been parked in the sun. Modern tech highlights include a 4.2-inch digital cluster for the driver and multiple USB ports to keep all passengers connected.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a suite of essential safety features including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. The inclusion of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is particularly valuable for GCC drivers to monitor tire health during high-heat months. Standard front airbags and a reinforced chassis provide peace of mind, earning high marks in international safety testing for the sedan segment.

The bottom line

For the pragmatist who values modern aesthetics and low overheads, this GCC-spec Elantra is a turnkey solution for reliable daily transport.
