Summary

This 2024 Kaiyi X7 Flagship offers a compelling entry into the mid-size SUV segment, particularly for buyers seeking modern tech at a competitive price point. At two years old with 90,523 km, its mileage reflects active use, yet it benefits from the brand's robust GCC warranty coverage which remains a strong safety net for subsequent owners. The Flagship trim delivers a premium atmosphere that rivals more established brands, featuring a distinctive design and a tech-heavy cabin that stands out in the Dubai and Riyadh cityscapes. For the GCC buyer, this represents a high-spec workhorse capable of handling daily urban commutes and weekend inter-emirate trips with equal ease.

This Car vs Other 2024 X7s

With 90,523 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year for its age. However, this higher usage is often indicative of highway-heavy miles between emirates, which can be less taxing on the powertrain than stop-start city traffic. The Flagship trim's 'Other color' exterior and GCC-specific cooling calibration ensure it remains a practical and resale-friendly choice in the local market.

FLAGSHIP vs Lower Trims

The Flagship trim significantly elevates the ownership experience over the base models by adding essential GCC comforts like the 360-degree panoramic camera system and an upgraded digital cockpit. While lower trims may stick to basic sensors and smaller displays, the Flagship includes advanced driver assistance features and premium leather seating surfaces that are better suited to long-distance highway cruises.

X7 vs Segment Rivals

The Kaiyi X7 competes directly with the Geely Boyue L and Changan CS75 Plus, leading with a sharp 'wingspan' design and a very competitive tech-to-price ratio. It offers a spacious 2,800mm wheelbase that provides superior legroom for family duties compared to many compact crossovers, and its 1.6T engine provides a punchy 197 hp that outclasses several entry-level rivals in the same price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.6T engine averages around 7.6 L/100km on the combined cycle, making it an efficient choice for the daily commute. Kaiyi's presence in the UAE is backed by Legend Group, with a growing service network that supports a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty, providing peace of mind regarding parts availability. While Chinese brands typically experience steeper initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, the X7's high equipment level helps maintain its value at the three-year mark for second-hand buyers.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, the X7 is well-equipped for the fast-paced highways of the UAE and KSA. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is specifically tuned for smooth transitions, ensuring comfortable overtaking at highway speeds. With 210mm of ground clearance, it easily manages gravel tracks and high speed-bumps, though it is best kept to paved roads rather than deep desert dunes.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Flagship trim features a massive 14.6-inch touchscreen that controls most cabin functions, creating a clean and futuristic aesthetic. The 5-seater layout offers generous shoulder room, and the dual-zone climate control is engineered to handle 45°C+ summer peaks efficiently. The inclusion of a panoramic sunroof and acoustic glass helps maintain a bright yet quiet environment during long drives between cities.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the Flagship trim, which comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Departure Warning, both vital for multi-lane highway driving. The 360-degree camera system provides a 540-degree 'transparent chassis' view, making it exceptionally easy to park in tight mall basements. Standard front and side airbags, combined with Electronic Stability Control, provide a robust safety envelope for family journeys.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-conscious family driver, this Kaiyi X7 Flagship offers a high-feature executive experience at a fraction of the cost of European rivals, fully supported by a comprehensive GCC warranty.
