Summary

This 2024 Carnival EX offers a sophisticated blend of MPV practicality and SUV-inspired styling, making it a premier choice for large families in the GCC. At 2 years old, its mileage reflects consistent highway use, typical for a vehicle designed to traverse between Emirates with ease. The black exterior is a highly desirable resale color in the local market, ensuring strong value retention when it's time to upgrade. As an EX trim, it provides the essential technology and comfort upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize, including advanced cabin climate controls. With a smooth 6-cylinder engine, it remains the most refined and spacious alternative to traditional three-row SUVs.

This Car vs Other 2024 Carnivals

With 69,224 km on the odometer, this Carnival has been utilized for the long-distance highway commutes common in the UAE, placing it within the expected range for a 2-year-old family vehicle. The black finish is a top-tier choice for resale in the GCC, offering a professional aesthetic that holds its value better than niche colors. Choosing a 2024 model ensures you benefit from the latest design language and modern safety tech while avoiding the steepest initial depreciation.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim is a significant step up from the base LX, introducing 19-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power liftgate that are essential for daily convenience. Inside, the EX adds a large 12.3-inch touchscreen with integrated navigation and a three-zone climate control system, ensuring all eight passengers stay cool during the peak GCC summer. You also benefit from the 'Quiet Mode' audio feature and an interior camera to monitor rear passengers, which are not available on lower specifications.

Carnival vs Segment Rivals

The Carnival stands out against the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey by offering a class-leading 627 litres of cargo space even with the third row occupied. Its 3.5L V6 engine provides more natural power for highway merging than the Sienna's hybrid setup, while its SUV-like ground clearance handles speed bumps and inclined ramps better than traditional low-slung vans. The 'Slide-Flex' seating also offers more configuration options than the fixed layouts found in many American-spec rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 delivers a combined fuel economy of approximately 10.7 L/100km, performing efficiently on long Abu Dhabi to Dubai runs. Service intervals in the GCC are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Historically, the Carnival maintains roughly 80-85% of its value after three years, outperforming many European MPVs due to its reputation for mechanical durability in high-heat environments.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 270 hp V6 engine, the Carnival reaches 100 km/h in approximately 8.0 seconds, providing more than enough power for a fully loaded family trip. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, making long-distance drives across the Emirates effortless and quiet. With a braked towing capacity of 1,588 kg, it is also capable of hauling small trailers or jet skis for weekend coastal getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring a powerful A/C system with dedicated vents for all three rows and rear side window shades to block the afternoon sun. The synthetic leather upholstery is both premium and easy to clean, while the 3,090 mm wheelbase ensures adult-sized legroom in the very back. Tech-wise, the wireless smartphone charger and multiple USB ports across all rows keep every family member connected during long road trips.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the EX trim, featuring a full ADAS suite including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance. For GCC highway driving, the Lane Keeping Assist and Smart Cruise Control provide vital support, while the Safe Exit Assist prevents rear doors from opening if traffic is approaching from behind. Parking is simplified by front and rear sensors that integrate seamlessly with the high-resolution dashboard display.

The bottom line

For the GCC family needing maximum space and modern tech without the SUV price premium, this black 2024 Carnival EX is a mechanically sound, high-resale-value opportunity.
