Mercedes Benz G500 AMG FINAL EDITION

Highlights

• Limited to 1,500 units globally
• 416 hp from a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo
• Final model year of V8-powered G500

Summary

This 2024 G500 represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of automotive history as one of only 1,500 'Final Edition' units produced worldwide to mark the end of the V8 engine for this model. With 31,500 km on the clock, it has been driven slightly more than the typical GCC luxury average but remains under its two-year mechanical prime, benefiting from a robust and proven powertrain. The Olive Magno green finish is highly sought after in the UAE and Saudi markets, often commanding a premium over standard colors due to its association with G-Class heritage. As the final V8-powered variant before the model transitions to six-cylinder power, this specific trim offers better long-term value retention than standard G500s. For the GCC buyer, this car delivers the unmistakable V8 exhaust note and presence that has defined the region's car culture for decades.

This Car vs Other 2024 G500s

While most 2024 models transitioned toward newer configurations, this Final Edition stands apart as a limited-production collector’s item. Its mileage of 31,500 km is slightly above the typical 20,000 km annual average for GCC luxury SUVs, but this is offset by its status as one of the last 500 units produced in this specific color. The Olive Magno exterior is a top-tier resale choice in the local market, ensuring it stands out against more common white or black examples.

AMG FINAL EDITION vs Lower Trims

The Final Edition package elevates the G500 far beyond the standard trim with the Manufaktur Full Leather package, covering the entire cabin and even the luggage compartment in premium Nappa leather. It features exclusive 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and a high-end Burmester surround sound system as standard. Unique 'Final Edition' badging and 'Stronger Than Time' puddle lamp projections provide a sense of exclusivity that standard G500 buyers typically have to pay a significant premium for via aftermarket customization.

G500 vs Segment Rivals

The G500 leads rivals like the Range Rover Autobiography and Lexus LX 600 with its uncompromising body-on-frame durability and three independent 100% locking differentials. While rivals focus on air-suspension plushness, the Mercedes offers a mechanical purity and an iconic V8 character that is increasingly rare in the segment. Its upright design also provides superior visibility for navigating both tight urban spaces in Dubai and technical desert terrain.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.5 L/100km, though this can increase in the stop-start traffic common in major GCC cities. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the strongest authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring specialized care is always accessible. As a 'Final Edition' V8 model, this vehicle is expected to follow a much slower depreciation curve than standard luxury SUVs, likely retaining a significant portion of its value at the 3-year mark due to its collectibility.

Performance & Capability

Powered by the celebrated 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, the G500 produces 416 hp and 610 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.9 seconds. Its permanent all-wheel-drive system and low-range transfer case make it exceptionally capable for weekend desert excursions while remaining composed at its 210 km/h governed top speed on long highway stretches between Emirates. The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is specifically tuned to handle the high-torque demands of both heavy sand and fast-paced highway overtaking.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a showcase of Manufaktur craftsmanship, featuring ventilated multicontour front seats that are essential for the GCC's extreme summer heat. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated climate zones and high-quality insulation that keeps the interior silent even during high-speed cruising. The inclusion of the Burmester audio system and diamond-stitched leather headliner ensures that long-distance drives across the region are as luxurious as they are comfortable.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC for long highway drives and Blind Spot Assist to navigate multi-lane traffic. The G-Class’s signature robust construction is supplemented by a 360° camera system and high-performance LED headlamps that provide excellent visibility during night drives in unlit desert areas. Stability control and the 4MATIC system work together to ensure maximum traction on both rain-slicked city roads and gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity for a GCC collector to secure the final V8 chapter of the G500 lineage in a highly desirable regional specification. It is the perfect choice for the buyer who values long-term resale stability and the legendary performance of a Mercedes-Benz V8.
