Summary

This 2024 MG HS Luxury offers a significant opportunity for buyers looking for a nearly new, high-spec SUV without the initial depreciation hit of a showroom purchase. With 34,300 km, the mileage is slightly above the GCC annual average but reflects a vehicle that is well-settled and typically highway-driven. The black exterior is a perennial favorite in the UAE market, ensuring strong resale demand and aesthetic longevity. In a segment dominated by entry-level crossovers, the Luxury trim provides a premium feel that rivals more expensive Japanese competitors. For GCC owners, the standout factor remains the balance of modern tech and the peace of mind provided by MG's expanding regional service presence.

This Car vs Other 2024 MG HSs

At 34,300 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km GCC annual average, which is often a sign of consistent highway use between emirates rather than stop-start city wear. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the regional used market, often commanding a quicker sale than brighter or niche tones. Choosing this 2024 model allows you to benefit from the latest design updates while avoiding the steepest part of the depreciation curve seen in the first 12 months.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim is the definitive choice for the GCC, upgrading the standard front-wheel-drive to a capable All-Wheel Drive system. Inside, it adds essential comfort features like dual-zone climate control and a 360° camera, which are frequently requested by UAE drivers. You also get premium touches like the panoramic sunroof and upgraded Trophy racing-style seats that are not found on the Comfort base model.

MG HS vs Segment Rivals

The MG HS leads its segment by offering premium features like a 360° camera and leather interiors at a price point where rivals like the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V typically offer basic cloth trims. Its 2.0L turbocharged engine provides a punchier highway experience than many naturally aspirated competitors. The 507-liter boot space is highly competitive, making it a practical choice for family road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0T AWD averages around 8.5 to 9.5 L/100km depending on how much time is spent in heavy city traffic versus open highway cruising. Maintenance is straightforward with service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km, supported by a strong authorized network across the UAE and wider GCC. While MG models see higher initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the Luxury trim tends to retain a higher percentage of its value due to its comprehensive feature set.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a top speed of 210 km/h, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. The All-Wheel Drive system provides added stability on gravel tracks or during the occasional rainy spell on local roads. With multiple drive modes, the HS can be tailored for efficient commuting or a more responsive steering and throttle feel when needed.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the heat, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool. The panoramic sunroof adds an airy feel to the interior, while acoustic glass helps insulate the cabin from highway wind noise. The Luxury trim's power-adjustable seats ensure long-distance comfort during cross-country drives.

Safety

This Luxury trim is equipped with a full suite of safety features including curtain airbags, electronic stability program, and a 360° camera for effortless parking in tight urban spots. Standard ADAS features like blind-spot monitoring are particularly valuable for the multi-lane highway driving common in Dubai and Riyadh, providing an extra layer of protection during lane changes.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-focused family or professional, this MG HS Luxury combines a high-end features list with AWD capability, making it one of the best value-for-money SUVs currently available in the GCC market.
