Summary

This MG RX5 Luxury offers a compelling entry into the modern SUV market, blending European-inspired design with an extensive feature list. As the top-tier trim, it provides a high-tech cabin environment that rivals more expensive competitors, featuring a distinctive vertical touchscreen and panoramic views. Its silver exterior is a practical choice for the GCC climate, effectively hiding dust while maintaining strong resale demand in the secondary market. For a 2024 model, it represents a nearly new ownership experience with the peace of mind of a robust regional service network. This vehicle is an ideal choice for urban professionals or small families seeking a stylish, tech-forward daily driver that handles city commutes and highway trips with ease.

This Car vs Other 2024 RX5s

With 65,000 km on the odometer, this RX5 has been consistently utilized for typical GCC highway commuting, often resulting in better mechanical health than lower-mileage city-only cars. The silver finish is one of the most resilient colors for the regional climate, ensuring it looks fresh for years while supporting higher valuation at the point of resale.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim elevates the RX5 experience with critical upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize, including a 360-degree surround-view camera and a larger 14.1-inch high-definition touchscreen. It also adds premium touches like a power tailgate and upgraded 19-inch alloy wheels, which are missing from the Standard and Comfort variants.

RX5 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage, the RX5 leads with a more futuristic interior layout dominated by its portrait-oriented infotainment system. It offers a generous 430-liter boot space and a 2,708 mm wheelbase, providing superior rear legroom for its price bracket, making it a favorite for those who value passenger comfort.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is tuned for efficiency, achieving a manufacturer-rated 6.8 L/100km, which is highly competitive for the compact SUV segment in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. MG has one of the fastest-growing service networks in the GCC, with authorized centers readily available in every major city. Resale values for MG SUVs have stabilized significantly, benefiting from the brand's aggressive expansion and long-term warranty support in the region.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 171 hp and 275 Nm of torque, the RX5 provides confident acceleration for merging onto high-speed GCC highways. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth power delivery and quick shifts, while the front-wheel-drive setup is optimized for fuel-efficient urban driving and long-distance cruising. With a top speed of 190 km/h, it remains composed and quiet even at sustained highway limits.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Luxury trim features high-quality leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof that opens up the cabin to create an airy, premium feel. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered to cope with extreme 45°C+ summer temperatures, featuring dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers comfortable. Acoustic insulation has been improved in this generation to minimize road noise during cross-country drives.

Safety

The RX5 Luxury comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including 6 airbags and advanced electronic stability control. Standard driver assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera are particularly useful for navigating the multi-lane highways of Dubai and Riyadh. It also includes ISOFIX child seat anchors and a high-strength steel cage body for maximum passenger protection.

The bottom line

This 2024 RX5 Luxury is a smart opportunity for a buyer wanting a top-spec, modern SUV without the first-year depreciation hit of a brand-new car.
