Summary

This 2024 Mitsubishi ASX Midline offers a modern, city-ready crossover experience with the benefit of the updated 2.0-liter MIVEC engine. Having covered just over 44,000 km, this vehicle represents a practical entry point into late-model SUV ownership in the UAE, especially in silver which remains one of the most resilient colors for resale. The ASX stands out in the segment for its mechanical simplicity and the sheer strength of the Mitsubishi support network across the GCC. It is an ideal daily driver for those who prioritize long-term durability and predictable maintenance over complex electronics. For a buyer looking to balance recent model year technology with proven Japanese engineering, this is a highly logical choice.

This Car vs Other 2024 ASXs

With 44,478 km on the odometer, this ASX sits slightly above the average annual mileage for private UAE vehicles, which typically reflects the heavy highway use common between the Emirates. However, this level of use is standard for a 2024 model in the professional market and suggests the car has been consistently driven, preventing typical heat-soak issues found in low-use cars. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, as it effectively masks light desert dust and retains the highest resale interest in the local used market.

GLX MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The GLX Midline trim upgrades the ownership experience over the base GLX with essential tech like the 8-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You also benefit from a rearview camera and 16-inch alloy wheels, which provide a more refined aesthetic and improved ride quality compared to the base steel wheels. Additionally, this trim includes a high-contrast meter with a color liquid crystal display, making trip information much clearer during bright daylight driving.

ASX vs Segment Rivals

The ASX leads rivals like the Mazda CX-3 and Kia Seltos by offering a larger 63-liter fuel tank, providing superior range for long highway stretches across the GCC. Its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine is often preferred locally over the smaller turbocharged units found in competitors due to its simpler cooling requirements in extreme heat. Furthermore, the ASX shares its wheelbase with the larger Outlander, resulting in a more planted highway feel and better rear legroom than many sub-compact crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is efficient for the region, averaging 7.9 L/100km, though expect closer to 10 L/100km in heavy Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km or 6 months, and with Mitsubishi's massive network, parts are affordable and readily available from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. The ASX enjoys a very stable depreciation curve, typically retaining more value at the 3-year mark than its European counterparts due to its reputation for bulletproof reliability in the desert climate.

Performance & Capability

The 150 hp 2.0-liter engine is tuned for reliability and smooth city delivery, reaching 100 km/h in approximately 11.3 seconds. While this front-wheel-drive model is designed for urban use and highway commuting, its 190 mm ground clearance allows it to navigate gravel tracks and high speed bumps with significantly more confidence than a standard sedan. The INVECS-III CVT transmission is specifically mapped to keep the engine in its power band, ensuring consistent performance even when the air conditioning is running at full capacity during summer.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the ASX provides a remarkably effective air conditioning system, a critical factor for GCC comfort, supplemented by UV-absorbing glass that helps minimize cabin heat soak. The 5-seat layout features fabric upholstery that remains cooler than leather during peak summer months, and the 60:40 split-folding rear seats allow the 358-liter boot to expand for larger cargo needs. Soft-touch materials on the dash and front door surfaces provide a more premium feel during long commutes between Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features on the GLX Midline include Dual Front Airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Active Stability Control (ASC). For highway safety, it features Hill Start Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which is vital for monitoring tire health during high-speed summer driving. The inclusion of a rearview camera as standard in this trim makes parking in tight urban spaces significantly safer and more convenient.

The bottom line

For the practical GCC buyer, this 2024 ASX is a low-risk, high-reliability crossover that balances modern smartphone connectivity with the region's best service support network.
