Summary

This 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR offers a perfect balance of modern LC300 refinement and the proven reliability of the 4.0L V6 naturally aspirated engine. With mileage significantly below the GCC annual average for this segment, it represents a nearly new opportunity in a highly desirable black-on-beige configuration. The GXR trim is the sweet spot for many regional buyers, providing essential tech like the 12.3-inch display and wireless charging without the extreme cost of the VXR. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for extreme heat and long-distance desert highway travel. Given the legendary value retention of the Land Cruiser nameplate in this region, it remains one of the safest automotive investments available today.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

At 27,985 km, this vehicle is exceptionally well-positioned, sitting below the typical 25,000 km per year average seen on GCC highways for large SUVs. The black exterior is a premier resale choice in the UAE and Saudi markets, often commanding a quicker sale and higher price floor than non-standard shades. While many 2024 models are entering the market as high-mileage former fleet or rental units, this specific example shows the low-wear characteristics of a privately maintained vehicle.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a meaningful upgrade over the base GX and EXR variants by introducing a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen and synthetic leather upholstery, which is much better suited to the GCC climate than entry-level fabric. It also adds convenience features that local buyers prioritize, such as the power-operated tailgate and wireless smartphone charging. Mechanically, the GXR includes the essential rear differential lock and Crawl Control systems that are often absent or optional on basic configurations.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol V6, the Land Cruiser leads with a more modern TNGA-F platform that offers superior body-on-frame rigidity and lighter weight for better sand performance. While rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe offer more raw cargo volume, the Land Cruiser’s specialized off-road hardware—specifically its high-mounted air intake and robust cooling systems—is purpose-built for the extreme ambient temperatures of the Empty Quarter. Its 110-litre fuel tank ensures significantly more range during cross-border drives compared to European luxury crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is celebrated in the GCC for its simple mechanical architecture and ease of maintenance, with authorized service centers available in almost every major city across the UAE and KSA. Owners can expect fuel consumption to average approximately 12.5 L/100km on open highways, though this will increase in stop-start city traffic typical of Dubai or Riyadh. The Land Cruiser maintains the lowest depreciation rate in its class, typically retaining over 80% of its value after three years in the local market, supported by a massive regional demand for genuine GCC-spec parts.

Performance & Capability

This LC300 utilizes the 271 hp 4.0L V6 engine, a powertrain chosen by regional buyers for its long-term durability and ability to run on various fuel grades found across the GCC. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a sophisticated 4WD system featuring Multi-Terrain Select, it is equally capable of high-speed highway cruising and serious dune bashing. The body-on-frame construction provides the necessary strength for frequent off-road excursions while maintaining a composed ride during family trips between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured with seven seats, including a third row that folds away to provide a flat loading floor for gear or luggage. The high-output dual-zone air conditioning system is specifically designed for 45°C+ summer peaks, ensuring the rear passengers remain cool even during the hottest months. Technology highlights include a high-resolution 12.3-inch touchscreen, a refrigerator in the center console for beverages, and multiple USB charging points to keep the whole family connected during long drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GXR trim includes a comprehensive airbag system with front, side, and curtain protection. It features active aids such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), and Brake Assist, which are vital for maintaining control on slippery sand or gravel surfaces. The inclusion of a rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors makes navigating tight city parking and narrow off-road tracks significantly safer for a vehicle of this size.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a late-model LC300 with the reliable V6 heart and low mileage, this GXR represents a secure, high-utility investment that will hold its value for years to come.
