Summary

This 2023 Nissan Patrol SE T2 offers a compelling proposition for GCC buyers, combining the model's legendary durability with a manageable 80,380 km on the odometer. As a three-year-old vehicle, it sits in a sweet spot of depreciation while maintaining modern tech like the 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Black is a perennially strong resale color in the UAE market, ensuring this SUV remains a liquid asset. While many rivals have moved to smaller turbocharged units, the Patrol's naturally aspirated V6 remains a preferred choice for local owners who value long-term mechanical simplicity and parts availability. For the GCC driver, the combination of a massive fuel tank and a robust service network across all emirates makes this an exceptionally practical family workhorse.

This Car vs Other 2023 Patrols

With 80,380 km over three years, this Patrol has been driven slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km, suggesting consistent highway use between emirates. This mileage is common for a primary family SUV in the region and is well within the engine's long-term design life. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local used market, often commanding a quicker sale and better price retention than more niche colors.

SE T2 vs Lower Trims

The SE T2 trim is a significant step up from the base XE, adding essential comfort and tech features that GCC buyers prioritize. It upgrades the cabin with the large 12.3-inch high-resolution display, a remote engine starter—critical for pre-cooling the car during summer—and a power liftgate for daily convenience. Unlike the base model, the T2 also includes front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera to aid in navigating tight city parking.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Patrol leads its primary rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300-series, in total fuel capacity with its 140-litre tank, providing a significant range advantage for long desert crossings or trips to Oman. It offers a more traditional, cushioned ride quality compared to the firmer setup of the Chevrolet Tahoe or Ford Expedition. Additionally, the Patrol's 8-seat configuration provides more genuine interior width for middle-row passengers than most European luxury SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically ranges between 14-16 L/100km on GCC highways, though this can rise toward 20 L/100km in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic with the AC on maximum. Service intervals are set at 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized centers like Al Masaood or AW Rostamani, ensuring widespread maintenance support. The Patrol remains one of the best-performing vehicles for value retention in the UAE, typically losing only 10–12% annually after its initial depreciation.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 produces 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque, delivered through a smooth 7-speed automatic transmission that is perfectly geared for GCC highway cruising. Its variable 4x4 system is a hardware-led solution, featuring a dedicated low-range transfer case and a locking rear differential for genuine off-road capability. With 273 mm of ground clearance, it is equally comfortable tackling weekend dunes or navigating high-speed arterial roads with absolute stability.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed specifically for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with roof-mounted vents that reach all the way to the third row. The 8-seat layout is highly flexible, and the SE T2 trim includes a cooled center console (cool box) to keep drinks chilled during long summer drives. Acoustic glass and thick insulation ensure the interior remains a quiet sanctuary, effectively shielding passengers from both desert heat and road noise.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on this trim, featuring a suite of airbags and Nissan's Intelligent Mobility features. Standard equipment includes Cruise Control for long highway stints, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control for off-road safety, alongside Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to maintain stability on sandy or wet surfaces. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera provides essential visibility for a vehicle of this size.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a modern, high-spec family SUV that holds its value better than almost anything else on the road, this 2023 Patrol SE T2 is the definitive GCC choice. It offers the perfect balance of updated cabin technology and the proven mechanical reliability required for life in the Gulf.
