Summary

This 1-year-old Geely Preface GF offers a compelling alternative to established executive sedans, combining Volvo-derived engineering with a level of technology rarely found at this price point. With just over 26,000 km, the mileage is well within the expected range for a vehicle of this age in the GCC, where highway commuting is the norm. The crisp white exterior is the strongest resale color in the local market, ensuring it stays desirable for years to come. For a buyer looking for European-style performance and a 2.0L turbocharged engine without the high maintenance costs, this top-trim GF variant is a standout choice. It effectively bridges the gap between compact efficiency and full-sized executive comfort.

This Car vs Other 2025 Prefaces

With 26,361 km on the odometer, this Preface has been used exactly as intended for a GCC commuter, averaging just slightly above the typical 20,000 km mark while remaining well within the manufacturer's early service windows. This usage suggests the car has spent its life on well-maintained UAE highways rather than in heavy stop-start city congestion. The white paintwork is a significant advantage in our region, offering superior heat reflection and the highest liquidity in the used market.

GF vs Lower Trims

The GF trim is the definitive choice for the GCC climate, adding essential ventilated front seats that are absent on the base GL model. Beyond comfort, the GF upgrades the safety suite to a full Level 2 ADAS system, providing adaptive cruise control and lane tracing assist for more relaxed long-distance drives between emirates. You also benefit from a premium 12-speaker audio system and a 360-degree camera, features that significantly improve the daily ownership experience.

Preface vs Segment Rivals

The Preface leads its segment by offering a 2.0L turbocharged engine that produces 215 hp, comfortably outperforming the naturally aspirated 2.5L engines found in the Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima. Its 2,800 mm wheelbase provides rear legroom that rivals D-segment executive cars, making it more practical for family duties than the Hyundai Elantra. Inside, the 13.2-inch infotainment screen is noticeably larger and more responsive than the hardware found in most Japanese competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0T engine averages around 6.8 L/100km, making it efficient for a car of this size on the long highway stretches common in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Geely has established a robust authorized service network through AGMC in the UAE and Wallan in KSA, ensuring parts and expert technicians are easily accessible. While Chinese sedans typically see a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the GCC, the Preface’s shared technology with global premium brands is helping it hold value better than earlier models.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 6.9-second 0-100 km/h acceleration, which provides effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h highways. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, avoiding the ‘rubber-band’ feel of the CVTs found in many rivals. Multiple drive modes, including a dedicated Sport setting, allow you to stiffen the steering response for more engaged driving on winding roads like Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme Middle Eastern summer, featuring a high-capacity dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear air vents to keep all five passengers cool. The GF trim’s ventilated seats are a game-changer during July and August, while the solar-absorbing glass helps reduce cabin heat soak when parked. High-quality soft-touch materials and ambient lighting create a sophisticated environment that punches well above its weight class.

Safety

Safety is a priority with 6 airbags and a reinforced body structure standard on this GF trim. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are particularly useful for GCC driving, with blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking providing an extra layer of protection against fast-moving highway traffic. It also features a 360-degree camera system that makes parking this nearly 5-meter sedan effortless in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

For the professional who wants the tech and power of a premium European sedan with the sensible running costs of a GCC-spec commuter, this 2025 Preface GF is an unbeatable value proposition.
