Summary

This 2026 GAC Empow GE offers a modern, sporty alternative to the traditional sedan segment with a tech-forward cabin and sharp handling. As the mid-spec GE trim, it strikes a balance between essential driving features and the high-end equipment typical of its higher GL sibling. The grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, maintaining its finish well against the dust and sun common in the GCC. With its fuel-efficient 1.5T engine and aggressive styling, this car stands out from more conservative rivals for younger drivers or families looking for flair. For a GCC buyer, this remains a compelling choice due to GAC’s expanding service presence and the model's high features-to-price ratio.

This Car vs Other 2026 Empows

With 54,000 km, this Empow sits at a typical mileage for its age in the GCC, reflecting the region's common long-distance highway commutes. Its grey finish is a robust resale color in the local market, resisting the visible effects of heat and sand better than darker tones. This specific car offers a solid mechanical foundation for a buyer looking to jump into a modern sedan without the initial depreciation of a showroom unit.

GE vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GE trim introduces significant tech and convenience upgrades over the base GS. It adds critical GCC-friendly features like power-folding heated side mirrors to handle narrow parking and humidity, along with larger 18-inch alloy wheels that enhance the car’s sporty stance. Inside, the GE gains paddle shifters and more comprehensive ADAS safety systems that are often absent on lower-tier entry models.

Empow vs Segment Rivals

The Empow GE competes directly with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla but leads with its more aggressive turbo-performance and standard cabin technology. While Japanese rivals focus on conservative reliability, the GAC offers a more engaging wet-DCT gearbox and a more modern dual-screen cockpit layout. It provides a larger wheelbase than many compact competitors, resulting in superior rear legroom for family use.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is a strong point, with the 1.5L turbo delivering approximately 5.7 L/100km on long highway stretches between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are typically set at 10,000 km, and GAC's partnership with major regional distributors like Gargash and Aljomaih ensures authorized centers are accessible across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While European sedans face steeper initial drops, the Empow's value is supported by its competitive entry price and the brand's rising reputation in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-liter GDI turbocharged engine produces a verified 177 hp and 270 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.95 seconds. This makes it one of the peppier cars in its class, providing confident overtaking power on fast-moving GCC motorways. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is designed for high efficiency and quick shifts, offering a more responsive drive than traditional CVT alternatives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a dual 10.25-inch screen setup that handles both instrumentation and infotainment with ease. For the GCC climate, the automatic air conditioning is supplemented by rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool during summer peaks. The flat-bottom steering wheel and bucket-style seats reinforce the sporty theme while remaining comfortable for long-distance cross-border drives.

Safety

The GE trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags and advanced ADAS features. Standard systems like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist are particularly useful on long desert highways, while Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking provide essential protection in heavy city traffic. These active safety aids work alongside a 360-degree camera system to make parking and lane changes safer.

The bottom line

This Empow GE is an ideal pick for a tech-savvy buyer who wants a sporty, high-spec sedan that undercuts the price of established rivals while still offering full GCC regional support.
