MG 3 STANDARD

Highlights

• 16.4 km/l combined fuel economy
• 293 litres boot space (seats up)
• 10.25-inch infotainment display standard

Summary

This 2025 MG 3 Standard represents the entry point into a new generation of efficiency and value for the GCC market. With a naturally aspirated 1.5L engine, it avoids the complexity of turbochargers while providing the zippy city performance required for urban commuting in Dubai or Riyadh. The white exterior is the most sought-after choice for local resale, ensuring maximum value retention while helping the cabin stay cooler during peak summer months. Its competitive mileage for a 2025 model suggests it has primarily been used for light urban errands rather than high-mileage cross-border journeys. For the practical buyer, this hatchback delivers modern tech and high fuel efficiency in a package that is remarkably easy to maintain across the region.

This Car vs Other 2025 MG 3s

With approximately 49,400 km, this vehicle has seen slightly higher than average usage for its first year, typical of a busy daily commuter in the UAE. However, being a 2025 model, it benefits from the latest mechanical refinements and interior tech of the new generation. The white paint is a significant advantage in the GCC used market, consistently holding a resale premium over darker, heat-absorbing colors.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the base trim for the 2025 model year, the Standard focuses on essential value without sacrificing modern connectivity. It features a 10.25-inch central touchscreen and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster that matches higher trims, along with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike the hybrid variants, this petrol model includes a space-saver spare wheel under the boot floor, a critical feature for long desert highway drives.

MG 3 vs Segment Rivals

The MG 3 competes directly with the Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Yaris, standing out by offering a more modern, screen-heavy interior as standard equipment. While rivals often rely on older infotainment systems in their base trims, the MG 3 provides a larger digital footprint and a 293-litre boot that handles weekly shopping better than the Suzuki Swift. Its 1.5L engine is specifically tuned for the region's high-temperature, stop-start city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low thanks to a verified combined fuel economy of 16.4 km/l, making it one of the most efficient non-hybrid hatchbacks in the GCC. MG’s authorized service network has expanded rapidly across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are readily available at competitive prices. Historically, MG hatchbacks retain approximately 75-80% of their value after the first three years in the GCC, performing well against European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L four-cylinder engine produces 109 hp, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 10.8 seconds, which is competitive for the compact segment. The CVT automatic transmission is optimized for smooth power delivery during highway merging and low-speed city crawling. With a 42-litre fuel tank, drivers can expect a total range of nearly 690 km on a single fill-up, reducing the frequency of petrol station stops.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite its compact footprint, the cabin is designed to maximize headroom and features a 5-seat layout with durable fabric upholstery suited for the heat. Standard features include automatic air conditioning with PM 2.5 filtration, ensuring clean air during dusty conditions or high-traffic commutes. The rear seats fold down to expand the cargo capacity to 983 litres, providing enough space for larger lifestyle items or luggage.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite including front and side airbags, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Helpful features for GCC highways include a rearview camera and rear parking sensors to aid in tight urban parking. Hill Start Assist is also standard, preventing rollback on inclined exits often found in major shopping malls across the region.

The bottom line

For the budget-conscious professional or small family, this 2025 MG 3 offers the newest technology and excellent fuel economy at a significant saving compared to showroom prices.
