Toyota Hilux SGLX

Highlights

• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• 400 Nm of torque

Summary

This 2025 Toyota Hilux SGLX is a premier example of the region’s favorite pick-up, offering the highly desirable 2.4L turbo-diesel engine paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic gearbox. With 55,000 km over 1 years of use, the mileage is slightly above the GCC annual average but remains well within the expected range for a vehicle designed to traverse long highway distances between emirates. The white exterior is the top-performing resale color in the Middle East, ensuring this truck will hold its value exceptionally well for the next owner. As a GCC-spec model, it features the heavy-duty cooling systems required to maintain peak performance during the extreme summer heat. This SGLX trim strikes the ideal balance between a rugged commercial workhorse and a daily-driver with upgraded cabin comforts.

This Car vs Other 2025 Toyota Hiluxs

At 55,000 km, this Hilux has been actively utilized but sits comfortably within the typical high-mileage duty cycles seen in the GCC, where 25,000 to 30,000 km per year is common for diesel pickups. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering the best heat reflection and the highest resale demand across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Compared to younger, zero-km examples, this vehicle offers a proven mechanical history and the immediate availability of a broken-in diesel powertrain.

SGLX vs Lower Trims

The SGLX trim is a significant upgrade over the base GLX, adding essential lifestyle features that GCC buyers value, such as 17-inch alloy wheels and a steel front bumper. Inside, the cabin is elevated with a touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a dedicated cool box in the dashboard for keeping drinks chilled. It also includes practical driver aids like a rearview camera and front/rear parking sensors that are often absent on lower work-focused trims.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

The Hilux leads its closest rivals, the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-MAX, primarily through its legendary resale value and the sheer density of the Toyota service network across the entire GCC. While the Ford Ranger offers more tech-heavy interiors, the Hilux's 80-litre fuel tank and simple, robust 2.4L diesel engine are better suited for long-term reliability in harsh desert environments. Its 3,500 kg towing capacity remains a benchmark that few in the mid-size segment can consistently match in real-world conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 2.4L diesel is approximately 14.1 km/L, providing excellent range for cross-border drives or long days on a job site. Maintenance is straightforward, with standard 10,000 km service intervals supported by one of the most extensive authorized dealer networks in the Middle East, ensuring parts are always available. The Hilux boasts the lowest depreciation rate in its class, typically retaining 85-90% of its value after the first three years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

Generating 400 Nm of torque from just 1,600 RPM, this Hilux provides effortless low-end pull perfect for heavy towing or navigating soft sand. The 4WD system includes a rear differential lock and selectable low-range gearing, allowing it to transition from highway commuting to desert exploration with ease. The 6-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to handle the high-torque output of the diesel engine, providing reliable power delivery even when the vehicle is at its maximum 1-tonne payload.

Comfort & Cabin

The double-cab configuration offers seating for five with a focus on durability, featuring high-quality fabric seats designed to withstand heavy use. GCC-specific comfort is handled by a powerful automatic climate control system and rear cooling vents, which are vital during the peak summer months. Additional touches like the 4.2-inch multi-info display and integrated cool box transform the cabin from a basic utility space into a comfortable environment for long-distance travel.

Safety

This SGLX trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including dual front airbags and a driver’s knee airbag for enhanced protection. Active safety features such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-start Assist (HAC), and Active Traction Control (A-TRC) provide confidence on loose gravel and sandy surfaces. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera and parking sensors ensures that maneuvering this large pickup in tight city spaces is as safe as possible.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a dependable partner for both heavy-duty work and weekend adventures, this 2025 Hilux SGLX offers the perfect blend of diesel efficiency and Toyota's unmatched reliability.
