• 1,200 km total combined range (CLTC)

Summary

This 2026 BYD Leopard 8 Flagship is a formidable newcomer to the GCC luxury SUV scene, combining 738 hp hybrid performance with serious off-road engineering. As the range-topping trim, it features the advanced DiSus-P hydraulic suspension that adapts instantly to terrain, making it uniquely suited for both smooth Dubai highways and weekend desert adventures. Its black exterior is a high-demand choice for regional resale, ensuring it stays relevant in a competitive pre-owned market. For the GCC buyer, the most compelling factor is the plug-in hybrid system, which offers an electric-only commute during the week and massive range for long-distance hauls across the Emirates. This listing represents a rare chance to own one of the most technologically advanced 7-seaters currently available.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 8s

As a 2026 model, this vehicle reflects the absolute latest in BYD’s hardware revisions, particularly in its battery thermal management which is critical for GCC summer performance. The mileage is exceptionally low for a full-size SUV in this region, where annual averages often exceed 25,000 km due to inter-city travel. The black-on-black color scheme remains one of the top three most liquid configurations for resale in the local market.

FLAGSHIP vs Lower Trims

The Flagship trim is distinguished by the inclusion of the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic suspension, allowing for an adjustable ground clearance that lower trims lack. It also adds a comprehensive Huawei-powered ADS 3.0 suite with LiDAR, which provides superior adaptive cruise and lane-keep functions essential for long desert highway drives. Inside, the Flagship gains an 18-speaker premium audio system and ventilated/massaging seats in both the front and second rows.

Leopard 8 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 8 competes directly with the Tank 700 and Toyota Land Cruiser, standing out with its significantly higher horsepower and a sophisticated triple-screen cockpit. While rivals rely on traditional displacement or simpler hybrid setups, the Leopard’s DMO platform offers a 1,200 km combined range that reduces fuel stops on cross-border drives. Its 900 mm wading depth and adjustable suspension give it a technical edge in off-road geometry compared to more road-biased luxury crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption in hybrid mode averages around 8.87 L/100km, a significant saving over traditional V8 rivals in GCC stop-start traffic. Maintenance is supported by BYD's expanding authorized service network in the UAE and major KSA cities, with service intervals typically every 10,000 km. While Chinese luxury SUVs are newer to the market, the Leopard series has shown strong initial value retention due to high demand for its unique tech and off-road capability.

Performance & Capability

With a sustained 738 hp and 760 Nm of torque, the Leopard 8 delivers effortless highway overtaking even when fully loaded with seven passengers. The specialized DMO off-road platform includes triple differential locks and low-range gearing, allowing it to navigate soft sand dunes that would challenge most hybrid SUVs. Its 310 mm maximum ground clearance and 4.8-second 0-100 km/h sprint time place it in a unique bracket of 'sport-utility' that few competitors can match.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is designed for family logistics in extreme heat, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and ventilated Nappa leather seating. Technology is at the forefront with a 17.3-inch central display and a dedicated screen for the front passenger, ensuring entertainment on long hauls from Dubai to Muscat. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated, utilizing acoustic glass to maintain a quiet environment even at high highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a full suite of 14 airbags and the Huawei-powered LiDAR system for enhanced hazard detection. Features like blind-spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking are particularly useful in fast-moving UAE traffic, while the 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view provides essential visibility when navigating tight parking or rocky trails.

The bottom line

This Leopard 8 is the ideal choice for a tech-forward family looking for a luxury SUV that is just as capable in the Liwa dunes as it is on Sheikh Zayed Road.
