Summary

The 2026 Changan X5 Plus Beyond Pro enters the GCC market as a high-tech crossover that punches well above its weight in performance. This specific unit stands out with its modern black exterior, a color that consistently commands high demand and strong resale value across the region. Unlike standard compact SUVs, the X5 Plus utilizes a high-pressure direct injection engine that balances punchy acceleration with excellent fuel efficiency for long commutes. For a buyer in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the combination of advanced driver assistance and a driver-centric triple-screen cockpit makes it a compelling alternative to more expensive rivals. With Changan's rapidly growing service footprint in the Gulf, this is a future-proof choice for those seeking tech-forward urban mobility.

This Car vs Other 2026 X5 Pluses

As a 2026 model, this X5 Plus represents the latest iteration of Changan's sporty SUV lineup, featuring the second-generation Blue Whale powertrain. In a market where high-mileage highway driving is the norm, a new model year vehicle provides a significant advantage in mechanical longevity and software up-to-date features. The black exterior is a premier choice for the GCC, ensuring easier resale compared to niche colors while maintaining a sharp, executive look.

BEYOND PRO vs Lower Trims

The Beyond Pro trim is a significant step up from the base trims, replacing standard safety gear with a full suite of intelligent driving aids and the signature triple-screen digital cockpit. It adds the 540° transparent chassis camera system, which is invaluable for navigating tight urban parking and avoiding high curbs. Additionally, this trim features upgraded interior materials and an enhanced audio system that provides a far more premium experience during long drives between Emirates.

X5 Plus vs Segment Rivals

The X5 Plus competes directly with the Geely Coolray and Haval H6, leading the group with its 192 hp output and a faster 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.51 seconds. Its 2715 mm wheelbase is one of the longest in the compact segment, providing superior rear legroom for family use. While rivals often use torsion beam rear setups, the X5 Plus utilizes a multi-link independent rear suspension, offering better stability on high-speed GCC highways.

Running Costs & Resale

With a WLTC rated fuel consumption of 6.95 L/100km, the X5 Plus is highly efficient for daily commuting in stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. Changan has established a massive service network across the GCC, including over 30 dedicated centers in Saudi Arabia and prime locations in the UAE, ensuring parts are readily available. The brand currently sees a 3-year value retention rate of approximately 63-67%, which is competitive for Chinese manufacturers in the regional market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged Blue Whale engine delivers a robust 192 hp and 310 Nm of torque, making highway overtaking effortless even at higher speeds. Power is managed by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, which is specifically engineered to handle the high operating temperatures of the Middle East without the overheating issues sometimes found in dry-clutch units. Selectable drive modes, including Sport and Eco, allow the driver to tailor the throttle response to either spirited weekend drives or fuel-efficient weekday commuting.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Beyond Pro features a wrap-around 30-inch triple-screen display that integrates navigation and media seamlessly. The cabin is designed for the GCC climate with a powerful automatic air conditioning system equipped with a PM2.5 filter to ensure clean air during dusty conditions. The 584-litre boot expands to 1318 litres, providing ample space for airport runs or weekend getaways, while the panoramic sunroof adds an airy feel to the darkened sporty interior.

Safety

Safety is anchored by a high-strength steel frame and a comprehensive ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking. The 540° camera system provides a bird's-eye view and a 'see-through' chassis perspective, helping drivers avoid obstacles on the ground. Standard features also include six airbags, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system, all of which are essential for maintaining safety on fast-moving desert motorways.

The bottom line

This 2026 Changan X5 Plus Beyond Pro is the ideal match for a tech-savvy professional or a small family looking for premium performance and features without the premium price tag. With its high-spec camera systems and potent turbo engine, it offers the best value-to-performance ratio in the current GCC compact SUV market.
