Summary

The 2026 Changan X5 Plus enters the GCC market as a high-tech alternative to the traditional compact SUV, pairing aggressive styling with a potent 1.5L turbocharged engine. In the Beyond Pro trim, this crossover bridges the gap between value and luxury with a cabin that feels significantly more premium than its price point suggests. With 192 horsepower on tap, it offers more highway-overtaking confidence than most naturally aspirated rivals in the segment. The black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the region, while the dual-screen cockpit caters perfectly to a tech-savvy audience. For a buyer looking for a brand-new vehicle that doesn't compromise on acceleration or features, this X5 Plus is a compelling regional choice.

This Car vs Other 2026 X5 Pluss

As a brand-new 2026 model, this X5 Plus represents the current peak of Changan's compact SUV engineering. In the GCC market, where highway driving dominates, a new vehicle with no accumulated wear on its dual-clutch transmission is a significant advantage. The black exterior is a high-demand color in local used markets, ensuring this listing will hold its appeal for future resale.

BEYOND PRO vs Lower Trims

The Beyond Pro trim is a major step up from the Pioneer and Deluxe versions, adding a full 360-degree panoramic camera system that is essential for tight urban parking in the UAE. It replaces standard seating with perforated leatherette sports seats and upgrades the technology to a more immersive dual 12.3-inch screen interaction. You also benefit from a panoramic sunroof and automatic dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents, which are critical for maintaining cabin comfort during the peak GCC summer months.

X5 Plus vs Segment Rivals

The X5 Plus stands out against rivals like the Haval H6 and Geely Coolray by offering a longer 2,715 mm wheelbase, which translates directly into superior rear legroom for family use. Unlike many competitors in this price bracket that use a basic torsion beam rear suspension, the Changan features a multi-link independent rear setup for a more composed ride on varying road surfaces. Its Blue Whale 1.5T engine also delivers a class-leading 310 Nm of torque, giving it a performance edge during highway merges.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is impressive for the performance offered, with a combined WLTC figure of approximately 6.95 L/100km. Changan has built a strong and expanding authorized service presence across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts and expert maintenance are readily available. While Chinese brands typically see higher initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, the X5 Plus's high standard specification helps it retain value among younger buyers looking for tech-heavy used cars. Choosing a 92-octane compatible engine also helps keep daily running costs manageable across the region.

Performance & Capability

The Blue Whale 1.5T engine is the star of the show, delivering a confirmed 0–100 km/h time of 7.51 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is specifically designed to handle high-heat, stop-and-go traffic more durably than older dry-clutch designs. While strictly a front-wheel-drive urban crossover, its 161 mm ground clearance and selectable drive modes (Sport, ECO, Normal) make it perfectly capable of handling gravel tracks and weekend excursions between the Emirates. The 51-litre fuel tank provides a solid range for long-distance cruising from Dubai to Muscat or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Beyond Pro trim creates a driver-focused 'smart cockpit' featuring two high-definition displays that put navigation and climate controls at eye level. The cabin is well-insulated against the GCC heat, supported by an automatic air conditioning system with PM2.5 filtration to keep the air clean during dusty days. For cargo, the 584-litre boot is generous for the compact class and expands to a massive 1,318 litres with the rear seats folded. Passengers in the back will appreciate the flat floor and ample knee room, making it a viable long-distance cruiser for five adults.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including the 360-degree surround-view camera and a 540-degree 'transparent chassis' view, which helps drivers navigate obstacles they can't see through the floor. Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Traction Control System (TCS) to maintain grip on sandy or wet roads. For long highway drives, the inclusion of Cruise Control and a Driver Fatigue Warning system adds a vital layer of protection for the driver and family.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants 2026-year technology and turbocharged performance without the premium price of European rivals, this Beyond Pro trim X5 Plus is an outstanding value proposition.
