Summary

This 2026 Dongfeng Z9 represents a rare opportunity to own a next-generation plug-in hybrid pickup with remarkably low mileage for the GCC market. Its sleek black finish is a top-tier choice for resale value in the region, ensuring long-term appeal for local buyers. As one of the first high-performance PHEV trucks in the segment, it offers a unique blend of 429 hp power and electric efficiency that rivals traditional petrol-only workhorses. For the GCC owner, the ability to commute on pure electricity while maintaining a massive total range for long-distance desert or highway travel is a game-changer. This GCC-spec model is perfectly adapted for the local climate and infrastructure.

This Car vs Other 2026 Z9s

With just 24,000 km on the odometer, this Z9 has seen significantly less use than the average 2026 model in the GCC, where annual driving often exceeds 25,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing a distinct advantage when it comes time to trade in or sell. This specific unit offers the ideal balance of being nearly new while avoiding the steep initial depreciation of a zero-km showroom vehicle.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

While positioned as the Standard trim for the PHEV lineup, this model includes high-value features often reserved for premiums, such as the 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital cockpit. It retains the critical 32.85 kWh battery capacity found in higher configurations, ensuring the full electric range potential isn't compromised. GCC buyers will appreciate that even in this trim, dual-zone climate control and synthetic leather upholstery come standard.

Z9 vs Segment Rivals

The Z9 directly challenges established players like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger by offering a far more advanced hybrid powertrain and superior cabin technology. With its 3,300 mm wheelbase, it provides more interior legroom than the Hilux, making it a more viable family-utility crossover for local users. The PHEV system provides instant torque that traditional diesel rivals simply cannot match for smooth highway overtaking.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel costs are exceptionally low for a vehicle of this size, with a manufacturer-rated economy of approximately 1.24L/100km when utilizing the hybrid system effectively. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by a growing network of authorized service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts and maintenance are readily available. While the Z9 is a newer entry to the market, early data suggests strong value retention due to the high demand for fuel-efficient, high-tech pickups in the region.

Performance & Capability

Delivering a combined 429 hp and a muscular 800 Nm of torque, the Z9 offers effortless acceleration and a top speed of 170 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive configuration is tuned for efficiency and stability during high-speed highway cruising between emirates. Despite its eco-credentials, it maintains a robust 3,500 kg maximum towing capacity, making it as capable at the job site as it is on the school run.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to be a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a powerful air conditioning system and high-quality materials that resist solar wear. The 5-seat layout is spacious enough for adult passengers in the rear, while the minimalist dashboard reduces visual clutter for a more focused driving experience. Acoustic glass helps keep the interior quiet, filtering out both desert wind noise and city traffic hum.

Safety

The Z9 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including a 360-degree camera system that is essential for maneuvering a large pickup in tight city parking. Standard active safety includes electronic stability control and brake assist, providing confidence during sudden stops on sandy or gravel-strewn surfaces. Multiple airbags and a high-strength steel frame provide excellent passive protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

This Dongfeng Z9 is the perfect choice for the tech-forward GCC buyer who wants the utility of a truck without the high fuel costs of a traditional V6. Given its low mileage and popular color, it stands as one of the most compelling hybrid deals currently available in the regional market.
