Summary

This 2026 Suzuki Jimny GLX 5-door represents a unique opportunity to own a delivery-mileage example of the world's most iconic compact 4x4 in a high-demand GCC specification. The Blue exterior is a vibrant, sought-after choice in the UAE market that historically supports strong resale value compared to more common neutral tones. By extending the wheelbase, Suzuki has fixed the Jimny's only major flaw—practicality—without compromising the legendary off-road geometry that makes it a weekend favorite for desert crossing. For the GCC buyer, this 5-door model is the ideal bridge between a characterful city commuter and a genuine sand-dune explorer. Its body-on-frame construction and robust 1.5L engine are purpose-built to handle the extreme heat and demanding terrain of the region with minimal fuss.

This Car vs Other 2026 Jimnys

As a brand-new model year with delivery mileage, this Jimny offers a significant advantage over typical used listings that often accumulate high weekend mileage on desert trails. The Blue finish is a premium aesthetic choice that stands out in a sea of white and silver SUVs, ensuring better-than-average attention in the local used market. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it comes with the essential cooling and warranty compatibility required for peace of mind across the Emirates.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim is the definitive choice for the UAE, adding a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that is missing on the base GL. It upgrades the driving experience with LED projector headlamps for superior night visibility on unlit desert roads and includes a 360-degree camera system for easier maneuvering in tight urban parking. Further GCC-specific benefits include automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, which provide a significantly more premium feel during the summer months.

Jimny vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Jeep Wrangler are larger and more expensive, the Jimny leads the segment in maneuverability with a compact footprint that excels in narrow wadis and tight city streets. Its 40-litre fuel tank and lightweight 1.5L engine offer superior efficiency for daily commuting compared to heavy V6 alternatives, yet it retains a professional-grade low-range transfer case that many soft-roaders lack. The addition of two extra doors and a 2,590 mm wheelbase finally allows it to compete with small crossovers for family usability while maintaining a 36-degree approach angle.

Running Costs & Resale

The Jimny is famous in the GCC for its exceptional value retention, often losing less than 8-10% of its value annually, which outperforms almost every European rival. Real-world fuel consumption typically stays between 7.0 and 8.5 L/100km, though this may increase slightly during heavy desert use or stop-start traffic in Dubai and Riyadh. Maintenance is affordable and straightforward, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks across all GCC countries, ensuring parts are always accessible.

Performance & Capability

True to its 'AllGrip Pro' heritage, this Jimny features a mechanical low-range gear that allows it to climb dunes that would stop most modern crossovers. The 210 mm ground clearance and short overhangs (36° approach and 47° departure angles) provide world-class technical off-road capability. While the 102 hp engine is tuned for reliability and low-end torque rather than highway speed, it provides a stable and confident cruising experience at the UAE's 120-140 km/h limits.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-door configuration expands the cabin to seat four adults comfortably, with rear doors providing the easy access previously missing from the Jimny range. The GLX interior is built with durable, heat-resistant materials and features powerful air conditioning designed to combat 45°C+ summer peaks. Practicality is further enhanced by 50:50 split-folding rear seats that expand the 211-litre cargo area to 332 litres for camping gear or grocery runs.

Safety

Safety is standard with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Descent Control, which is particularly useful when navigating steep sandy slopes. The GLX trim also includes rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera to mitigate blind spots caused by the vehicle's rugged, boxy design. These features, combined with a high-tensile ladder frame, provide a secure environment for both city commuting and off-road adventures.

The bottom line

This 2026 Jimny GLX 5-door is the perfect choice for the UAE resident who wants a cult-classic off-roader with the modern convenience and resale security of a GCC-spec 5-door SUV.
