Mitsubishi L200 GL

Highlights

• 75-litre fuel tank capacity
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Body-on-frame construction

Summary

This 2027 double-cab pickup represents a pragmatic choice for GCC fleet operators and commercial owners who prioritise long-term durability. Its low-output turbo diesel engine is specifically engineered for high-torque tasks and mechanical longevity, avoiding the complexity of higher-performance variants. In the regional used market, the white exterior is the most preferred for heat reflection and high resale demand. Compared to its segment rivals, it offers a simplified mechanical layout that thrives in the extreme heat of GCC summers and heavy-duty work cycles. Reliable parts availability across all seven emirates and the wider GCC makes it one of the most cost-effective workhorses to maintain over a decade of ownership.

This Car vs Other 2027 L200s

As a brand-new model year for the GCC, this L200 sits at the start of its depreciation curve, offering maximum lifespan for commercial use. The white exterior is the standard for regional resale, ensuring it remains highly liquid in the used market. Its mileage is essentially delivery-only, providing a factory-fresh mechanical baseline for demanding fleet operations.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides a balance of utility and core essentials like manual air conditioning and power-assisted steering, which are non-negotiable for GCC drivers. It moves up from basic work-spec single cabs to a five-seat configuration, making it suitable for transporting crews or small families. This trim avoids the complex electronics found in the GLS, leading to lower repair costs and higher reliability in dusty, high-heat environments.

L200 vs Segment Rivals

The L200 is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max, leading the segment in terms of widespread service network density across Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Its 75-litre fuel tank provides a significant range for long cross-border drives between GCC cities. Mitsubishi's reputation for rugged ladder-frame chassis durability gives it a distinct edge in high-payload commercial applications.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L diesel powertrain is exceptionally fuel-efficient, typically consuming between 7.5 and 8.5 L/100km on long GCC highway runs. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km, and with authorized service centers located in every major GCC city, maintenance is highly accessible. Historically, the L200 retains roughly 80% of its value after three years in the UAE market, outperforming many European competitors in value retention.

Performance & Capability

The 148 hp output is geared toward low-end pulling power, providing the necessary torque for heavy payloads and trailer towing. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration paired with a 5-speed manual transmission gives the driver direct control over power delivery, which is essential for heavy-load stability. With a robust leaf-spring rear suspension and high ground clearance, it is well-suited for both paved highways and gravel work sites.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a five-seat layout with durable fabric upholstery designed to withstand the wear and tear of daily work use. The high-output manual air conditioning is engineered for the 45°C+ temperatures of the GCC, providing rapid cooling for all passengers. Practical interior features include multiple assist grips and a 12V accessory socket to keep devices charged during long drives.

Safety

This GL trim comes standard with essential safety systems including dual SRS airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). These systems provide vital stability during high-speed highway braking and when carrying uneven loads. Additionally, the inclusion of Brake Assist (BA) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) offers added security during long-distance travel in extreme desert heat.

The bottom line

This L200 is an ideal opportunity for a business owner or fleet manager looking for a zero-mile, reliable workhorse with the highest possible resale potential in the GCC market.
