7 tips when buying a new car in UAE
Before you rush out there, we’ve got a few tips for you to bear in mind.
The BMW 507, produced from 1956 to 1959, is one BMW’s most legendary models, born out of the perseverance of Max Hoffman, US importer and mastermind behind the Mercedes 300SL. Designed by Albrecht von Goertz, the 507 combined a lightweight aluminum body with a 3.2-liter V8 engine producing around 150 horsepower, a respectable number for its time. Intended to compete with the Mercedes-Benz 300SL in the market, the 507 was too expensive to build profitably, resulting in only 252 units made. Despite its high price (a whooping $9,000 USD!) and commercial failure, it became the car of choice for celebrities like Elvis Presley and John Derek, and still remains a prized collectible car today.
Built in the same decade and preceding the 507, the so-called “Barockengel” or “Baroque Angel” models were offered as BMW’s first V8-engined cars in the early 1950’s, available as coupés, saloons, and convertibles. Introduced in 1952, the 501 featured distinctive, flowing lines reminiscent of baroque styling, earning it the affectionate nickname. These cars were among the first postwar BMWs and were notable for their robust engineering, including the 502’s introduction of BMW’s first V8 engine. Though expensive and relatively low in production volume, the Barockengel models helped re-establish BMW’s resurgence during Europe’s reconstruction after the Second World War.
This particular car is built on the base and drivetrain of a BMW 502, with a hand-beaten aluminium body in the style of a BMW 507. With rebuilt mechanicals, an exquisite burgundy interior, and a meticulously crafted bodywork, this tribute has been further improved by our company with a correct engine bay toolbox, a refurbished radio, correct badging, a sports intake, polished stainless steel bumpers, and a myriad of other details to make it show-ready. This is a golden opportunity to own and enjoy BMW’s most iconic sportscar, while still enjoying original and correct BMW mechanical heritage, sound, and feel —all at a fraction of the price.
